Please post what is happening at your tea party here, your location and attendance...and as always, lots of pictures:)
What a wild two months.
On February 15th, 2009, all of us were going about our lives. Many of us were feeling the pinch via the bad economy, most of us were reaching the boiling point with regards to frustration with a Government that appears to be completely out of control.
On February 19th, Rick Santelli, via national news television, said what millions of Americans wanted to say, and he said it in a way that represented a rally call. Whether or not Rick really meant what he said is not relevant, what IS relevant is that fact that so many of us heard it, and were ready to react.
So here we are... just under two months later and looking at a Historic day ahead of us. Today we’ll be protesting nationwide in almost 800 cities. Many of these protests will see thousands of Americans pour into the streets, some will see tens of thousands.
Our estimates show that we’ll easily be in the six figures when all is said and done.
Tomorrow, April 16th, will represent a new day for the freedom movement. New leaders will come into play, new coalitions will form, new tax groups will be born, and a new energy will surround us all across the country. Tomorrow, a completely new face will be put on a movement that has suffered at the hands of attempted top down control and old school political hacks over the years. The individuals and groups that have attempted to control the freedom movement have literally been shoved out of the way by tens of thousands of Americans, and it happened in just nine weeks.
This is all because of you. People from all walks of life joined in on this effort, and the collaboration that occurred over the past month was ground breaking. There is no doubt in my mind that we would not be where we are today had it not been for 800 or so local organizers, the graphics designers, the coders, the server admins, the data volunteers, etc.
The work that went into this has been nothing short of remarkable. In fact, for me, it’s been rather awe inspiring.
So, with that said, I want to personally thank everyone for the work put in. It’s extremely encouraging to see this all unfold, and I believe that at the end of today, we’ll all look back in shock at the results of our labor.
Thank you for doing what you do. Good luck and Godspeed with your event today.

Thanks for the thread!
Is there a record for the amount of posts on a thread?
Thanks for the thread! As I just mentioned on the other thread:
Id especially like to see noted any NEGATIVE tv or print coverage of our events. As I mentioned earlier, our next step IMO should be to take action against the biased media and their sponsors. They MUST be held accountable for biased reporting. Gather the information we need today... Weve united enough citizens to be effective!
bump for later
Have a care folks. Fox & FRiends (steve) reported that he saw on one on the left wing blogs that they have professional cameras and are going to be posing as a camera crew from a tv network.
They are going to try to trick you up into saying something that can be taken out of context.
If you are going to be interviewed by a camera crew ask to see their credentials. Might not be a bad idea to have the numbers of local television stations so you can call them to confirm they sent out a crew.
bump!
Marking my place for later.
The upper limit is on the order of 64K posts, then it rolls over to a new thread.

will do.
I better get my butt in gear!
Oh you know will be lots of it, already started before tea parties have begun. And I am sure media will under count the crowds.
bookmark. Hope I get some good pics in Denver.
I know so many smart young people who are very bothered at the idea of losing the foundation on which our country was built. I have not seen young people this engaged since the 1960s. I expect to have a decent showing from Ron Paul supporters as well but I won't know until we get started. I have no idea what type of turn out we will have. We did not get much coverage in the Santa Barbara media but we did get a story in the Santa Ynez News.
There is a Meryl Streep/ Steve Martin movie being filmed a few blocks from Alameda Park where we are meeting at 1 PM. It might cause some parking problems because of streets shut down so if you are coming allow yourself a little extra time.
Good luck to everyone who is a part of this demonstration. May the Force be with us.
In Austin’s American Statesman this morning, they referred to the tea parties as “gimmicks”. Said republians should “drink the tea and dump the gimmicks”. As if they were ever unbiased.
Excited about going to the Party. I am afraid ACORN will insight violence at a tea party early today and there will be arrest......to deter the rest of the day!
I do not trust our Gov. to protect us. God Bless the People with a conscience.
WHAT I SAW ON YOUTUBE THAT HAPPENED IN UNC....IS JUST THE TIP OF AN AWFUL ICEBERG. WE ARE AT Political WAR and they have turned our children against us!!!

Given Obama's friendship with Bill Ayers, that comparison was quite ironic.
EDITORIAL: A brewing tax revolt

Today is tax day, and across America, taxpayers are holding tea parties to protest out-of-control government spending. Their concern is no tempest in a teapot.
The tax burden on American families is growing increasingly heavy. According to the Tax Foundation, tax-freedom day came on April 13 this year. That day marks the point of the year when taxpayers have earned enough money to pay off their federal, state and local taxes. It takes Americans about 3 1/2 months of labor to cover their tax obligation. That time will increase as government continues to grow. President Obama’s current budget proposal admits to plans to raise taxes by almost $1 trillion over the next 10 years.

I was pleasantly surprised to hear our local radio station reporting on the TEA party today during the early morning broadcast, even told us the time and place it was happening.

AmericanFlags.com Supplies Thousands of Gadsden Flags for Tax Day Tea Party
“Don’t tread on me” becomes anti-tax rallying cry at nationwide protests
HAUPPAUGE, N.Y., April 15 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ — April 15th is tax day and hundreds of thousands of Americans will mark the occasion by participating in “Tax Day Tea Party” protests in more than 2,100 communities nationwide. The Gadsden flag, emblazoned with the historic words “Don’t tread on me,” has become the official flag of the Tea Party movement and AmericanFlags.com has proudly supplied more than 5,000 Gadsden flags to protest participants.
The tax day protests, modeled after the Boston Tea Party, take aim against government spending, tax hikes and corporate bailouts. “The Gadsden flag with its vivid yellow field, coiled rattlesnake poised to strike and provocative slogan has always embodied the American spirit of determination and resolve,” said Dr. Jeffrey Reynolds, President/CEO of AmericanFlags.com. “We’ve always supported civic involvement and citizen activism and we are pleased to have become a primary supplier of Gadsden flags for event organizers. Gadsden flags have literally flown off our shelves in the last month.”
Happy April 15th all you tea partyers. Let’s go out and have our voices heard!!!!

The Friends have been doing Tea Party coverage all morning. Great job!

I really want to go to one - specifically the one in DC.
But at nearly 38 weeks pregnant I’m absolutely miserable right now and frankly am a bit hesitant about going in my condition if ACORN or similar groups are hoping to cause some problems.
Don't talk to them even if they HAVE credentials - they may edit anything you say to make it sound bad. Not all of them will, of course, but who knows which ones can be trusted? I found this out the hard way. Also, do NOT give your real name - crazies have stalked freepers based on getting personal information from news reports. Use your maiden name, your mother's maiden name, the next town over from where you actually live, anything to keep your privacy private.
At approximately 7 a.m. (CT) NBC Today Show (Meredith Vierra, I think)said the Tea Parties "Aren't Catching On", and went on to say something about radio talk show hosts having to try drumming up support. Hey Mare...It's 7AM! How do you friggin' know?
bfl, heading for the LAs Vegas Tea PArty.
Should be huge and very series.
And if you can’t make a tea party HAMMER your reps with faxes, emails and calls.
My boss wouldn’t give me the day off (plus I’m sick as a dog, working anyway) so that’s what I’m going to do.

Heavenly Father, please watch over these fine people across the USA coming together to bring attention to the heavy taxation burden being forced on our shoulders. Please send your Holy Spirit to keep the activities peaceful, to bring and show truth to all who watch. Please soften the hearts of those who wish confrontation and keep all safe. I ask that your perfect will be done on this day and that you will continue to bless this country and lead us and direct us in the way that you would have us go. In Jesus' name, Amen.
Thanks for starting the thread! Godspeed FReepers!
belmarcam.com will have the Belmar, NJ Tea Party, hope the weather clears some so they are viewable.
I’m going to the one in Bristol, Tennessee. I have a huge sign. Hope the rain holds off for us. What really aggravates me is the talking heads claiming that this is a highly organized GOP event. Give me a break!! I have had to seek out info about local tea parties. The liberal Democrats just can’t stand it that they have some real competiton in utilizing the 1st Amendment. They think that we’re organized now? They don’t want to see us when we really do get organized!!!
