"Capitalism is Organized Crime" ( You are invited to attend ...Sunday, April 19 in DC)
ANSWER Member Coalition | April 13 2009 ( unsure ) | ANSWER Coalition

Posted on 04/16/2009 11:03:07 AM PDT by Ernest_at_the_Beach

The ANSWER Coalition encourages its members and supporters to attend an exciting educational event taking place in Washington, D.C., on Sunday, April 19.

Please see below for the list of featured speakers.

The "Capitalism is Organized Crime" conference will take place from 12:00 noon to 5:00 pm at the Festival Center, located at 1640 Columbia Rd. NW, between 16th and 17th Sts. (green line metro to Columbia Heights).

Guest Speakers, Panels & Discussion

Capitalism is a form of organized crime. The U.S. government is greasing the system's wheels to ensure that banks and big corporations get trillions in bailout funds. Meanwhile, millions of workers are losing their jobs and homes. Deep cuts are gutting public education, making health care even less accessible and decimating much-needed social programs. Police brutality and racial profiling are rampant. Working-class people are being hit from all sides.

The conference will link the struggles against war and militarism with the fight for economic justice. This conference will be an important opportunity for political activists to meet, analyze, discuss and propose solutions. The conference organizers believe that a radical reorganization of society is necessary to meet the needs of the people rather than to maximize the profits of bankers and corporate executives who have driven society onto the path of endless war and economic suffering.

Featured speakers at the April 19th Conference will include:

  • Marcos García, labor attache at the Venezuelan Embassy in Washington, D.C.
  • Mara Verheyden-Hilliard, attorney and co-founder, Partnership for Civil Justice
  • Brian Becker, National Coordinator, ANSWER Coalition
  • Hodari Abdul-Ali, Chair of the Social Justice Task Force for MANA, the Muslim Alliance in North America
  • Eugene Puryear, Howard University student, PSL 2008 Vice-Presidential Candidate
  • Prof. Zachary Wolfe, George Washington University, chair of the Amicus Curiae Committee of the National Lawyers Guild
  • Maurice Carney, Co-Founder and Executive Director of Friends of the Congo
  • Muna Coobtee, ANSWER Coalition and Free Palestine Alliance
  • Frances Villar, Senator and Senate Parliamentarian of Bronx Community College Student Government, Vice Chair for Legislative Affairs for University Student Senate of City University of New York (CUNY)
  • James Circello, Iraq war veteran and co-coordinator of the Veterans and Service Members Task Force of the ANSWER Coalition
  • Crystal Kim, PSL 2008 Candidate for D.C. Council At-Large

Problem is, that what is going on now is not capitalism. Bailing out banks and government takeovers of business (like GM...with others soon to follow) is fascism.

Reminds me of this:

No matter whose welfare he professes to serve, be it the welfare of God or of that disembodied gargoyle he describes as ‘The People,’ no matter what ideal he proclaims in terms of some supernatural dimension-in fact, in reality, on earth, his ideal is death, his craving is to kill, his only satisfaction is to torture.

Destruction is the only end that the mystics’ creed has ever achieved, as it is the only end that, you see them achieving today, and if the ravages wrought by their acts have not made them question their doctrines, if they profess to be moved by love, yet are not deterred by piles of human corpses, it is because the truth about their souls is worse than the obscene excuse you have allowed them, the excuse that the end justifies the means and that the horrors they practice are means to nobler ends. The truth is that those horrors are their ends.

You who’re depraved enough to believe that you could adjust yourself to a mystic’s dictatorship and could please him by obeying his orders-there is no way to please him; when you obey, he will reverse his orders; he seeks obedience for the sake of obedience and destruction for the sake of destruction. You who are craven enough to believe that you can make terms with a mystic by giving in to his extortions-there is no way to buy him off, the bribe he wants is your life, as slowly or as fast as you are willing to give it in-and the monster he seeks to bribe is the hidden blank-out in his mind, which drives him to kill in order not to learn that the death he desires is his own.

You who are innocent enough to believe that the forces let loose in your world today are moved by greed for material plunder-the mystics’ scramble for spoils is only a screen to conceal from their mind the nature of their motive. Wealth is a means of human life, and they clamor for wealth in imitation of living beings, to pretend to themselves that they desire to live, but their swinish indulgence in plundered luxury is not enjoyment, it is escape. They do not want to own your fortune, they want you to lose it; they do not want to succeed, they want you to fail; they do not want to live, they want you to die; they desire nothing, they hate existence, and they keep running, each trying not to learn that the object of his hatred is himself.

These people want to kill the goose that lays the golden egg. The nanny state can’t exist without the hard working normal people who go out and work even if taxes are high.
When they destroy all incentive to work, there will be no one left to tax.

Well, we either respond in force, or sit back and see how many attendees show up. My sense of it is that this is a quickly organized (using federal dollars) response to the TEA parties, and will be attended by the rent-a-mob crowd. Maybe we should show up. Engage in confrontation, and see how many libs scatter in the face of real opposition.

I'm about ready to go bust some heads, personally, just me, not speaking for anyone other than myself.

Protest responds to ICC arrest warrant for President Bashir

In response to a decision by the International Criminal Court to issue an arrest warrant for Sudan’s President Omar al-Bashir, demonstrators gathered in front of the Sudanese Embassy in Washington, D.C. The demonstration denounced the ICC’s ruling, and imperialist efforts aimed at destabilizing and recolonizing Sudan along with other parts of Eastern Africa.

The demonstration was organized by the Give Peace A Chance Coalition, a community-based organization dedicated to raising awareness of the effects of U.S. foreign policy on Africa and Africans in the Diaspora. Demonstrators held signs that read, "Hands off Sudan," "Down with the ICC," and "ICC is a racist court."

AND more:

The imperialist disinformation campaign was a central theme of the press conference which followed the demonstration. Speakers included Hodari Abdul-Ali, Executive Director of GPAC and Chair of the Social Justice Task Force for the Muslim Alliance in North America; Akbar Muhammad, Found of Youth 4 Africa Foundation; Dr. Kaukab Siddique, author and Amir of Jamaat Al-Muslimeen organization; and Bob Brown of the All-African People’s Revolutionary Party. Brian Becker, the National Coordinator of the ANSWER Coalition (Act Now to Stop War and End Racism), also spoke in solidarity with the Sudanese people.

With his leadership [Kim Il Sung], the Korean people defeated the Japanese colonial occupation and soon after brought about the first defeat of the U.S. imperialist military machine. ...

Workers World Party values our close, comradely relations with the Workers Party of Korea very highly. We are proud to have known Kim Il Sung as a great leader and a comrade in the international communist movement. ..."

Behind the Placards
The odd and troubling origins of today’s anti-war movement
David Corn, November 07, 2002

"Officially, the organizer of the Washington demonstration was International ANSWER (Act Now to Stop War & End Racism). But ANSWER is run by WWP [Workers World Party] activists, to such an extent that it seems fair to dub it a WWP front. Several key ANSWER officials -- including spokesperson Brian Becker -- are WWP members. Many local offices for ANSWER’s protest were housed in WWP offices. Earlier this year, when ANSWER conducted a press briefing, at least five of the 13 speakers were WWP activists. They were each identified, though, in other ways, including as members of the International Action Center.

The IAC, another WWP offshoot, was a key partner with ANSWER in promoting the protest. It was founded by Ramsey Clark, attorney general for President Lyndon Johnson in the 1960s."

FrontPageMag.com/DiscoverTheNetworks.org

PROFILE: PARTY FOR SOCIALISM AND LIBERATION (PSL)

* Marxist-Leninist antiwar group that calls for “revolution” in the United States
* Operates in tandem with International ANSWER
* Expressly supports anti-Israel and anti-American terrorism

The Party for Socialism and Liberation (PSL) was founded in 2004, following an organizational fissure within the Marxist-Leninist Workers World Party (WWP) that resulted in three WWP member branches -- based respectively in San Francisco, Los Angeles, and Washington, D.C -- breaking away to form their own group. Openly allied with the International ANSWER Coalition (which is intimately tied to Ramsey Clark's International Action Center), PSL has also established branches in New York City (in Harlem), Baltimore, Chicago, San Francisco, Seattle, and West Chester, Pennsylvania.

A proponent of "revolutionary Marxism," PSL’s general raison d’etre is opposition to capitalism, which it defines as "the system in which all wealth and power is held by a tiny group of billionaires and their state," and the promotion of "socialism." The organization regards "U.S. capitalism" as the underlying cause of the war in Iraq (and all other wars) and regards "revolution" as the only viable alternative.

(snip)

Though nominally an independent group, PSL mostly acts in concert with International ANSWER. A list of campaigns and events on PSL’s website provides a summary of demonstrations and protests organized by ANSWER. PSL is staffed largely by ANSWER activists, among whom is PSL’s “leader,” Brian Becker. Other PSL members include ANSWER activist Gloria La Riva, a former gubernatorial candidate in California and a longtime apologist for communist Cuba, as well as several ANSWER coordinators and organizers, among them Saul Kanowitz, Muna Coobtee, and Caneisha Mills.

PSL is a strong supporter of Fidel Castro's Cuban government and the socialist "Bolivarian Revolution" led by Hugo Chavez in Venezuela. It also holds a favorable view of Mao Zedong's Cultural Revolution in 1960s China.

James Circello:

http://www.blackfive.net/main/2008/01/setting-the-rec.html

“...Mr. Circello’s second tour in Italy was wrought with many problems. Mr. Circello, after having shown up to work while intoxicated, lost his promotion to Staff SGT. Furthermore, upon being picked-up for a DUI, instead of staying and facing the problem, he chose to go AWOL the day IMMEDIATELY following his charge, and thus abandoning his fellow soldiers immediately preceding their deployment to Afghanistan...”

“In the end Mr. Circello made the CHOICE to re-enlist AFTER his tour in Iraq, he made the CHOICE to return to Italy knowing deployment would again be in his future. He made the CHOICE to drink and drive and a CHOICE to go AWOL, but, most disturbing perhaps is the choice he made, to tell an incomplete story which in effect discounts my brothers-in-arms sacrifices and actions which, it seems, the media was all too eager to latch onto-facts unchecked...”
