Bo Obama to star in children's book
The Telegraph ^ | 4/16/2009 | Chris Irvine

Posted on 04/16/2009 4:01:50 PM PDT by bruinbirdman

Barack Obama's dog, Bo, has been given a book deal, just a day after entering the White House.

A deal has already been done to publish "Bo America's Commander In Leash", a children's book that is due to be released next week.

According to Mascot Books, the publisher, the book will follow "Bo on an exciting adventure as he learns all about the White House and experiences the traditions that make it such a special place."

The book will feature guest appearances by Mr Obama, his wife Michelle Obama, Senator Ted Kennedy and Joe Biden the Vice President. It has been written by Naren Aryal, founder of Mascot Books, and illustrated by Danny Moore, one of its employees.

Mr Aryal told the New York Times he and Mr Moore had been working on the project for about two months, leaving space for pictures of the dog, once it was chosen. He added that the Obamas' two daughters Sasha and Malia are not named in the book because he wanted to protect their privacy.

Bo, a Portuguese Water Dog, was given as a gift to the Obamas by Mr Kennedey. The senator has three of the breed himself.

As Bo was welcomed into the White House, the Kennel Club reported a 125 per cent increase in the number of people asking about the breed in recent months. It said it received 1,646 calls in the last five months about the breed, a rise from 730 calls for the same period the previous year.

Mr and Mrs Obama made $2.7 million (£1.8 million) last year. Nearly all of their earnings last year came from the president's own two best-selling books - Dreams From My Father and The Audacity of Hope, which brought the Obamas nearly $2.5 million in royalties.

Kennedy Endorses Water Dog For Obama Family
[from the unbelievable but true file!]
WBZTV.Com ^ | January 13, 2009

Senator Ted Kennedy made an important political endorsement Tuesday [January 2009]. Massachusetts' Senior Senator endorsed the Portuguese water dog as the perfect pet for the nation's new first family.

[snip]

"A Portuguese water dog is the perfect choice for first dog," Kennedy said in a written statement. "The Obama girls -- and their parents -- will love a Portuguese water dog. They're loyal, smart, loving and they became a real part of the family. And they definitely do not shed."

Senator Kennedy and wife Vicki have three Portuguese water dogs of their own. Sunny and Splash often accompany Kennedy to the Senate. "They love being around people and being part of the action," he said.

The Kennedy's just added a third Portuguese water dog to the family, a puppy named Captain Courageous – or 'Cappy' for short. ..."

Barack Obama's family pick first puppy, a Portuguese water dog named Bo
April 12, 2009

"file picture of a Portuguese water dog, the breed Barack Obama's family has picked as the first puppy"

THE family of US president Barack Obama have chosen a Portuguese water dog to be the first pet.

In what was one of the White House's most tightly kept secrets, the Washington Post revealed Mr Obama's daughters, 10-year-old Malia and seven-year-old Sasha, have settled on a pup named Bo.

The Post published photos of the presidential puppy meeting Mr Obama's family. See the photos here.

The black-and-white puppy is a gift from Senator Ted Kennedy. Bo is scheduled to make his big debut to the American public early next week.

Mr Obama's daughters chose the name Bo because first lady Michelle Obama's father was nicknamed Diddley, the newspaper reported.

White House aides told The Associated Press that the office of the first lady arranged an exclusive deal on the dog story with the Post.

Bo doesn’t have to learn about anything. He is Bo the One Dog of the One. He has superpowers...like reading a teleprompter.

And just in time for Christmas...My Little Bo. You can feed him. Remember that he likes arugula and Missouri pizza. You can pretend to play with him in the corridors of the White House, or chase him around the oval office. Bo loves water, so he’ll be a hit at the pool.

It's like we are so stupid and the dog is being used to calm the masses, distract them from reality.

I love dogs and am surprised at my reaction to Bo. I'll respect him more when he runs away from home.

You see a leash? I don't see a leash. Leashes are for other people's dogs.

Now if the message here is "B.O., America's Commander in Leash" it makes sense, because he's definitely on *someone's* leash.

Interesting timing, for Bo to "come" during Passover:

Parshat Bo is one of the most influential and important parshiot we read all year. It tells of the last three plagues God brings upon Egypt , including the killing of the first born. We are given our first commandments as a community– the keeping of the new moon and a Jewish calendar-- as well as the holiday of Passover. We are told of tefillin. We see the inclusion of a "mixed multitude" of other peoples fleeing Egypt with us. And we head for the wilderness which brings our redemption from Egypt .

The parsha begins immediately with God declaring to Moshe why the plagues are happening to Egypt: so that you (the Hebrews) will tell, in the ears of your children and your children’s children that God acted upon Egypt and put signs (the plagues) in their midst to let them know it was God that was acting on their behalf. (Exodus 10:2)

Alcalay's dictionary tells us the Hebrew word for acted here implies a wickedness, a false accusation, or a cruelty. Rashi, the Medieval commentator, tells us that this act is one of God mocking Egypt for God’s own amusement.

Continued...

And then there's

Parsha Bo-Dogs and the Transformation and Resurrection of the Dead

There is a beautiful image in last plague, perhaps even more beautiful than Pharaohs chutzpah. It is here where we see an animal, dogs, mimics human behavior. The torah makes the statement ‘when the 1st born of the Egyptian were being killed, no dog barked (lit. no dog sharpened his tongue). The Gemmorah teaches us that the dog has a supernatural sense of the angel of death… the dogs begin to wale. Sometimes a dog laughs and is happy. This we say is a sign that the prophet Elijah has entered the city. We learn from this that a dog can distinguish that which is holy. This relates to the understanding that that which is satiated as positive trait, and that which is unholy and never satiated as a negative trait. The dogs are able to distinguish good or evil forces.

A dog always recognizes his master more than any other animal. Cats don’t share this trait ‘because they eat mice’. Dogs are the smartest because you can train them. They have native intelligence or consciousness. Many may think the fox is smarter. The fox is cunning but cannot be trained.<<<

Let's see... Ted Kennedy, who left a woman to drowned in in his own car, gives NOTUS (Narcissist of the United States) a water dog that is presented during Passover. The dog's name is not only the initials of the NOTUS but also rhymes with Mary Jo. Ted and B.O. can snort and mock but now that Hashem hears the Hebrew imperative "Bo!" spoken directly from the White House, it's only a matter of time.

A guess: the dog's at least three months old. It was sent to be housebroken, and trained to basic commands, after it was chosen by one of O's minions soon after birth. O's lit agent started the bidding war with publishers months ago.

Spin, spin, spin.

Yeah, he raked in a cool $500K advance for what will be nothing more than a watered down version of “Dreams From My Father”, which he claims he wrote. He got that just before he took office to avoid the law you mentioned.

Fear not. As leader of the Free World, he will find a way to line his pockets one way or another. Perhaps a trust fund or an off-shore account for the puppy will do the trick.

Do the Obamas have even on original idea? Seems since most presidents have dogs they need to find a doggie, anyone who gets a dog after being elected to the position of president is NOT a dog person. If they had/do like dogs they’d have already had one, did the Clintons have a dog before they entered the WH? Seems like even they got one after. One should not ‘adopt’ a dog just for the photo opps. I like dogs, have always had one, enjoy my mutts.

As for books about the ‘presidential dog? That’s not original either, just another copy cat thing.

and a Saturday morning cartoon that has yet to be titled. Yes, Bo will be one busy puppy with a hectic schedule that includes a plethora of photo ops and interviews on all the major talk shows.
