PORT-OF-SPAIN, Trinidad and Tobago -- What's the difference between "recovered" and "traceable" when it comes to firearms seized in Mexico's bloody war against drug cartels?
The White House says none.
But that's a distinction with a difference, even if President Obama used the words interchangeably last week to talk about the role firearms smuggled from the U.S. play in Mexico's stepped up fight against entrenched, well-armed drug cartels.
"This war is being waged with guns purchased not here, but in the United States. More than 90 percent of the guns recovered in Mexico come from the United States, many from gun shops that line our shared border," the president said on the subject in his joint press conference with Mexican President Felipe Calderon on Thursday:

How many weapon factories does Mexico have? I would not be surprised if we manufacture the majority of hand guns in the world. I also would not be surprised if the Mexican weapons were purchased using normal channels and not from gun shops across the border.

I would be willing to bet that 90% of the guns captured in Mexico are NOT smuggled from America.

I think that what is REALLY going on here is that Obama is crafting a two pronged approach where Calderon and himself play useful idiots to each other, and on behalf of each other’s purposes. Looking for a new rationale and justification for once again making SUPERURGENT the need to clamp down on ALL THINGS GUN in the USA????? Tell your people that guns “FROM THE USA” are responsible for the out of control drug wars in Mexico.Invite the President of Mexico to say the same thing, and also to blame us for using most of the drugs that “necessitates” traffickers in drugs.At the same time, totally ignore the fact that if this is the case, it would all be over in no time if the real priority would be CLOSING THE BORDERS NOW. In this way you can go after whatever you want to relating to guns in the USA, in many cases whatever remaining resisters there are (think Randy Weaver), who are going to resist you and your intimidation just out of general principles.In other words, they intend to reawaken if not create a new population like the vague ,unsubstantiated ones they identified in the notorious DHS document.In this way you can pretend to be to carrying on your own War on Drugs, when it’s real purpose is going to be confiscation of guns, and new gun laws, actively enforced. This sounds like a wet dream for Holder. If this transpires the way I think it will, they are promulgating yet another new civil war, this one on a new front.
