I'm afraid I must respectfully disagree. I think Meghan McCain would have been the best First Daughter since...well, First Daughter!
Meghan McCain has been just about the freshest breath of air to hit politics in a long time. Aside from "President John McCain," I think a First Meg would have been great for the country.
I know, she's no political expert, but that's her gift. She is the voice of apolitical America, equally concerned with her real life and her political one. The intersection of Meg's glamorous, TMZ-worthy social life and America's political life can only be a good thing, bringing more people into the tent. Let's be glad that they care about politics for now, and save why they care for later.
Additionally, Meg's simultaneous defiance of strident wingnuts and destructive body image sets an example for a segment of women in America who usually feel left out of female-empowerment movements.
As it stands, we get the best of both worlds: a Democrat in the White House, and Meghan McCain's fresh, entertaining mix of politics and pop life
