When asked by judge Perez Hilton, an openly gay gossip blogger, whether she believed in gay marriage, Miss California, Carrie Prejean, said "We live in a land where you can choose same-sex marriage or opposite. And you know what, I think in my country, in my family, I think that I believe that a marriage should be between a man and a woman. No offense to anybody out there, but that's how I was raised."
Keith Lewis, who runs the Miss California competition, tells FOXNews.com that he was "saddened" by Prejean's statement.
"As co-director of the Miss California USA, I am personally saddened and hurt that Miss California believes marriage rights belong only to a man and a woman," said Lewis in a statement. "I believe all religions should be able to ordain what unions they see fit. I do not believe our government should be able to discriminate against anyone and religious beliefs have no politics in the Miss California family."
Co-director Shanna Moakler said that she fully supported Lewis' statement.
But Prejean told FOXNews.com that she has no regrets and is happy with the answer she gave.

I liked it better when it was all about how they looked in a bathing suit, and not about whether cornholers should get married.
Great answer Miss California!
Where’s Bert Parks when you need him?
Unfair to ask that question.
The host is a schmuck
Still she stood up for her beliefs.
but the big story to come out of the normally politics-free telecast was Miss California's comments regarding gay marriage. Why was the question even asked, then?
Backbone! I wonder if she'd consider running for office?
In complete candor, full honesty and without satire - I beg to ask WHY a homosexual man would be asked to judge a beauty contest full of women.
Would you ask a heterosexual man to judge a male beauty contest where the men paraded in thongs? If you did, would you be able to trust his ‘judgement’ as to the actuall winner?
Face it, these beauty contests are based on how sexy a woman in her peak physical condition, at the apex of her physical health, who may or may not have had plastic surgery and may or may not be packing implants, looks in a bikini, in various states of disrobing, and how she looks in a dress. No one cares if she is fluent in 46 languages, and has a Nobel prize in Astro-physics.
So, why would they put a gay man on the board with the judges???
Why is a gay blogger judging a beauty contest?
There goes freedom of speech. All hail the fudge-packers...they are running the country now! All 3% of them, or is that percentage going up because it is pc to be that way now?
Between abortion, homosexuality (2 men don’t create anything where life is concerned, nor do 2 women), and a gov. gone mad.... I see a death cloud hanging over this country.
Now why should an answer which the majority of Americans agree with spark controversy? Could it be the controversy is manufactured by the media?
Only for support purposes, do any of you have an Email for this wonderful lady that stood up for what is right. She should be lauded and magnified for her answer. God Bless her.
Atta girl! I guess it’s safe to say she lost the pageant?
Have they stripped her of her title yet? You gotta know it’s coming.
They do their best to make women into caricatures.
****
No...they like having them around for role models and bait for the men they attract.
She and Sara Palin have more guts than any Republican out there. They have bigger sets than any Republican. god Bless you ladies.
“religious beliefs have no politics in the Miss California family.”
Does this make any sense?
Palin-Prejean 2012.
While Miss NC, who was quite a stunning beauty, is enjoying her free make-up, wardrobe and a 2-year scholarship to acting school, Miss CA will get a big fat contract from FOX News and/or make boogles of bucks on the speaking circuit. Meanwhile, Donald Trump will still be working on that combover.
Well, don't ask a question that you don't want to hear the answer to.
And I believe that more than half her state agrees with her.
Keith Lewis, who runs the Miss California competition, tells FOXNews.com that he was “saddened” by Prejean’s statement
The women made a decent, common sense, HONEST, personal reply and this saddens Mr Lewis? Mr Lewis I think the problem is not this womens answer but the problem is in you...
Yeah, well, I guess when a guy makes himself a caricature of a woman, he reflexively makes all women into caricatures.
The following advertise on Perez Hilton’s website:

They've worked hard to mold women into childlike, waifish, sex objects. Have you been living in a western country for the last half century??
Good for her; THE GAYSTOPPO WILL STOP AT NOTHING TO DESTROY THIS PRETTY YOUNG LADY’S REPUTATION, and LIFE, but I give her props for not “submitting”!
There’s nothing wrong with her statement.
The gay gossip probably thought because she is from CA she would say the opposite. There is hope for CA.
I agree. It was like an ambush, hoping she would feel prompted to give a canned pro-gay marriage answer. She was sucker punched but didn’t cave in. Good for her! I guess what the pageant people are saying is: We want the answers WE agree with, and we will put people on the spot if we have to in order to get them.
You can tell by the applause to both the question and her answer in the video that far more are against sodomite marriage than are for it.
You apparently haven’t seen the gay blogger’s comments on his blog after he voted against her. He gives new meaning to “screaming queen.”
No especially becuase a rejection of Christianity (or an embracing of secularism/liberalism/athieism) IS religious too, they’re hypocrites (probably bigger ones than they accuse most Christians of being, too..)!
“Why is a gay blogger judging a beauty contest?”
Looking for wardrobe ideas, I guess...
Each judge apparently got to write a question important to them - at least that’s what I think happened because Miss California’s answer was directed to Perez Hilton who is openly gay (and whom the host mentioned along with the question).
What happened to the rules?
‘”As co-director of the Miss California USA, I am personally saddened and hurt that Miss California believes marriage rights belong only to a man and a woman,” said Lewis in a statement.’
He’s “saddened” by that, just what till he learns what Jesus believes about the issue(Matthew 19:4-6).
‘”I believe all religions should be able to ordain what unions they see fit.”’
Does that also allow for religions being able to not ordain what unions they see unfit?
‘”I do not believe our government should be able to discriminate against anyone and religious beliefs have no politics in the Miss California family.”’
Huh? “Religious beliefs have no politics in the Miss California family?” Anyone, I’m waiting to see him start supporting polygamous and incestuous marriages.
Will she have my child?
He’s just jealous that she has bigger balls than he does!
He asked for her opinion and she gave it...what’s the queer’s problem?
Apparently, she hurt that poor sensitive judge’s delicate feelings. His momma won’t like that. She’s gonna get reporters after her and teach her not to mess with her confused offspring.
LOL...nawww I just live in S.E. Ohio! I had a horse trainer who was a real flamer. He was very likeable, but we disagreed about that subject ALOT. I only know what he told me. :)

Mmmmm...probably not.
I caught the end of the pageant, and this question. I also caught the question they asked Miss North Carolina (the eventual winner) about whether she agreed with government bailouts. She said she did not agree with taxpayer money being used to bail out companies. Another good answer.
The pageant was on NBC. So there’s your likely answer as to why the questions were politically charged. I doubt they were expecting two lovely conservative minded blondes to be in the final five.
I like this young lady’s grit. She’s gonna need it in Gaylifornia.
Carrie Prejean of San Diego.
Good one.
