Senate husband's firm cashes in on crisis

Feinstein sought $25 billion for agency that awarded contract to spouse

By Chuck Neubauer THE WASHINGTON TIMES Tuesday, April 21, 2009

On the day the new Congress convened this year, Sen. Dianne Feinstein introduced legislation to route $25 billion in taxpayer money to a government agency that had just awarded her husband's real estate firm a lucrative contract to sell foreclosed properties at compensation rates higher than the industry norms.

Mrs. Feinstein's intervention on behalf of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. was unusual: the California Democrat isn't a member of the Senate Committee on Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs with jurisdiction over FDIC; and the agency is supposed to operate from money it raises from bank-paid insurance payments - not direct federal dollars.

Documents reviewed by The Washington Times show Mrs. Feinstein first offered Oct. 30 to help the FDIC secure money for its effort to stem the rise of home foreclosures.

Her letter was sent just days before the agency determined that CB Richard Ellis Group (CBRE) - the commercial real estate firm that her husband Richard Blum heads as board chairman - had won the competitive bidding for a contract to sell foreclosed properties that FDIC had inherited from failed banks.

Strike them while the tea parties emotions are still running high.

It'll sink her real fast.

Be sure to let your congress and legislatures know about this.

The only useful attack that can be launched on dishonest/negligent media is to dry up their income.
Hence,
First, write letters to advertisers informing them of your intention to NOT partake of their goods or services due to their financial support of biased media.
Second, discontinue offensive subscriptions.

These actions will not kill off all crap media. There are some that will just suck up the losses and continue due to other financial support - example being CNN or anything funded by that Soros prick.
But once enough alleged journalists are out of work, perhaps a few will revert back to some degree of honesty and get rehired by a legitimate news organization.

You are correct-boycotts are the answer. The publishers lack of credibility is amplified and they lose revenue. But we need an “organized” boycott. For immediate impact, individual protests mean very little.

Point well taken but nonetheless,
I’m still a big fan of death by a thousand cuts.

Shame and disgraced with criminal inquiries is the way to drive down their popularity as a precursor to voting them out.

I don’t need to hear this tonight. I just learned today that my daughter’s braces will cost $293/month, we wanted to start my son in guitar lessons for $90/month, and dh’s business has been slow this month. I can take a little comfort in the many verses in Psalms about how the wicked prosper for just a time, but I’d like to prosper a little more right now.

Military procurement, medicare, real estate.

Blum seems to be right ahead of wifey Feinstein with his pick-up truck to cash in on millions.

I’m sure it’s just coincidence. /s

I feel ya. We found out how much the daughter’s braces would cost the same month her dad (my ex) lost his job. It broke my heart to tell her we have to wait a few years until everything is stable.

Interestingly enough, the Feinstiens have a financial interest in a fish canning plant there?

I thought that Pelousy was the one with the canning interest. As if it matters they are 2 peas in one seriously diseased pod.
