And everify is not allowed if you are hiring for a stimulus bill project.

Not true. E-Verify is a voluntary program. Senator Sessions tried to amend the stimulus bill to make it mandatory, but it was shot down by the Dems. Ironically, a number of my fellow grassroots immigration group went down to Richmond to testify before a House of Delegates subcommittee to support making E-Verify mandatory for all stimulus funded state projects. Although the Reps are in the majority in the House of Delegates, it was the Reps who shot our efforts down citing costs. It was obvious that they had been bought and paid for by the American Chamber of Commerce, our nemesis all over the country.

There’s a guy in Mexico who’s richer than Bill Gates. There is money in Mexico. Just as there is money in the Middle East.

Mexico is one of the major oil producers in the world, and they sell their product for dollars on the world market. They are also a major industrial power in their own right.

So why do they not pay their people a decent wage? Why does their economy expel nearly a million Mexicans a year?

Solve their socialist mafia economy and they will be a net labor importer, a net generator of jobs overnight.

Second verse same as the first. These open border multicults are all the same.

Just say no to the invaders.

but many are here to follow the American dream. They are not necessarily the "rejects and criminals". Many are fine people who should be applauded as they are shown the door and invited back as soon as they jump through the proper hoops.

Blah, blah, blah. Why would we reward those who had no respect for our laws, culture or our country in the first place?

I wonder if I can go pitch a tent in her backyard.

I heard Oregon is a pretty state and I always wanted to live there for a while. While I am at it, I expect her to pay for my food and provide me with medical care. Unfortunately, I speak the same language she does so she won’t have to learn another. Maybe I’ll learn Urdu before I go there and only talk to her in that language. After all, its her responsiblity to learn to speak with me if I don’t speak English.

I will take out her garbage for her and trim her lawn - maybe.

Why can’t they come here LEGALLY? Millions have. This professor is an idiot like most who don’t support our sovereignty.

We can't allow everyone to come here who wants to come. We have caps on various categories of immigration and on non-immigrant work visas. There are 3 million people waiting in line overseas who have completed all of the paperwork to come here as an immigrant, but they are waiting their turn. Some wait in line for up to 10 years.

Robbing a bank? HA!

I would be happy if the banks stopped robbing me through TARP.

Also overlooked by those who chant "they break the law, therefore they are criminals" is the fact that perhaps the law they break is an unjust one.

Aha! What a brilliant concept...let's also declare that the IRS and all its tax codes are "unjust"!

Most couldn't even qualify to come here on a tourist visa. And I would certainly disqualify anyone who broke our laws by illegally entering this country, committing ID theft, not paying taxes, driving without a licence, etc. from coming back here under any circumstance.

"They come illegally because they can't come legally "

So I guess we should be making the same stupid statement about the billion or so Chinese and Indians and Africans who "can't come legally".

IAC, for a minute I thought, based on the title, that this article was about something else.

“If they can’t come legally, they need to stay out. If our people need more people from Mexico, let them go to the government. We have to follow our laws......they should follow them even more so.”

The problem is not with Mexicans attempting to sneak into the U.S. If I were a Mexican peasant I would be doing my dead level best to get into this country too. The problem is with our (U.S.)not being willing to do whatever it takes to secure our borders. We need to militarize the border and have an aggressive policy about illegal aliens. And, when found inside the U.S. they need to be deported, no exceptions.

re “I think this [We get Mexico’s rejects and criminals] is a bit harsh”

My experience with illegals is that the idea that we get Mexico’s rejects and criminals is overwhelmingly true. I live in California, and work with illegals every day (I’m a physician, among other things). The amounts of illiteracy and fraud (independent of illegal entry)that I see every day are astronomical.

Many illegals are so illiterate that they cannot identify a single letter, in any language, let alone write a single word. Of those who can read or write, their writing ability is limited to only a few words. This illiteracy seems to be much worse in Southern California than Northern California, but the literacy rates among illegals appear to be low in both places.

As for fraud: the rate I observe of illegal aliens trying to commit health care fraud is astronomically higher than among the general public. Maybe the illegals just aren’t particularly good at fraud, and so they are easier to spot. Certainly, many of the illegals don’t seem to make even minimal efforts to disguise what appears to be healthcare fraud.

Based on my personal experience, it seems the level of rejects and criminals we get from Mexico far outweighs the proportion of rejects and criminals in their general population.

Just my observations.

And they can’t come legally because they are a net detrimet to our society, and to our taxpayers; and because it’s totally unfair to the rest of the world for most immigrants to come here from a single neighboring country, when there is no way we could accomodate everyone worldwide who would like to come.

An honest question for the professor:

If these immigrants were coming instead primarily from Europe, Africa and the Caribbean would you feel the same, Ms. GONZALEZ-Berry?
