Conn. House and Senate Pass Gay Marriage Bill; Rell Will Sign It
Hartford Courant ^ | April 22, 2009 | Christopher Keating

Posted on 04/22/2009 8:58:26 PM PDT by campaignPete R-CT

The state House of Representatives passed the gay marriage bill late Wednesday night - codifying the State Supreme Court's controversial decision that legalized gay marriage in Connecticut. The House voted, 100 to 44, several hours after the state Senate had voted, 28 to 7, to approve the codification. Republican Gov. M. Jodi Rell says she will sign the bill into law. The bill was supported on the House and Senate floors by the two co-chairmen of the legislature's judiciary committee - Rep. Michael P. Lawlor of East Haven in the House and Sen. Andrew McDonald of Stamford in the Senate.

gay-marriage enforcement in Connecticut. This bill does more than codify the court decision.

this bill does not balance anything

http://www.courant.com/news/local/hc-senate-oks-same-sex-marriage-exemption,0,3140516.story

“The state Senate this evening approved a measure that supporters say balances the rights of gay couples with those who hold religious objections to same-sex marriage.

The vote came after nearly three hours of often impassioned debate. Strictly speaking, lawmakers were voting on a bill that implements the landmark state Supreme Court ruling that legalized same-sex marriage.

But opponents of gay marriage, including the Roman Catholic Church and the Family Institute of Connecticut, had sought legal protections for business owners and organizations that oppose same-sex marriage on religious grounds. Clergy opposed to gay unions were already exempt.”

Meghan McCain says the GOP needs to ditch the Religious Right. Jodi Rell has 70% approval ratings in CT. Perhaps Meghan McCain will promote Jodi Rell for President as an alternative to Sarah Palin.

Unreal! When I was in high school in the early 80’s,AIDS was just coming to everyone’s attention. Now,a SINGLE generation later, the very lifestyle that caused and spread AIDS in this country is being affirmed,(and in some cases celebrated) by the courts and our representatives in public office. This is insanity!

You can classify me as a conservative atheist that does not like anything McRINO...and loves Palin and her family. I voted for her, not Juan.

I love people having the freedom to support their values, even if I disagree on some parts. I love my country and I love our founders’ principles.

The 6 yeas ... several have Congressional ambitions.
perhaps they can go find some gay radicals to do door-to-door work for them.

they are permanently tainted.

Even the concept of “codifying the court decision” was a sign of no backbone. Basically, the Conn. legislature bent over and allowed the courts to violate them.

And you can bet this will spread across the country.

the was nothing in the court decision that asked the legislature to “codify it’s decision”. it was weirdly worded opinion and an excuse by the legislature to do this.

Yup. Been saying that for a couple of years, but the speed has been picking up last year. After election Nov 08 you could see the handwriting on the wall.

Two reasons - Television and the education system. Throw in a liberal court and the mix is complete for a complete CHANGE of America.

The financial meltdown last Sept was NO FLUKE and it was triggered by some very corrupt officials at the highest level of our Government. Will never be proved, but it provided the liberals with the perfect storm that won them all power seats of the Federal Government for the many years to come. They will complete their takeover with their SCOTUS appointments.

The only way to change their complete power over the Government is the R word.

Or having a successful civil war happen, at some point in the future. The majority of non-leftists must seriously come together and then actually have either a successful revolution or a successful civil war, if this country is ever going to seriously be a capitalistic country again. Anything less than this and leftists will just keep on being in complete control of everything important politically. If “leftists v.s. non-leftists” ends up even going global, than the final result may be even better for non-leftists, if they actually do win.

If you received a call that someone you loved was stricken with a serious illness, you would not whisper a quick, “Bless her, Lord” and move on. No! You would fall to your knees—heart heavy in your chest—pleading with God to restore her health. We should respond similarly when our country’s “health” is compromised: we should pray as fervently for our land and her leaders as we would for a dangerously ill friend.

King Solomon was warned of the peril to his nation if the people ceased honoring the Lord. God explained what Israel was to do in such a state of turmoil. First, the people were to humbly admit their need for the Lord’s intervention. Second, they were expected to cry out to Him from hearts burdened for the country’s situation. And third, those seeking a renewal of God’s blessing upon Israel were to undergo a time of personal confession and repentance.

The Lord’s word to Israel contains principles that are also relevant for us in modern times. “Those who are called by His name”—in other words, the body of believers—have a duty to intercede on behalf of their country when it is ailing. Christians who want God to hear prayers, forgive national sins, and heal their homeland are wise to follow the steps He laid out to Solomon.

Your nation needs your prayers. As you become aware of unhealthy trends and decisions, start with a personal heart cleansing: confess and repent of any known sin (1 John 1:9). Then cry out to our heavenly Father for the return of a vibrant, God-fearing culture.

FROM IN TOUCH MINISTRIES...DR. CHARLES STANLEY.

We live in a Godless Country....we are the minority. But do not let your heart be troubled, set your eyes on God and speak his truth.....know his truth....and teach your children of God’s truth and everlasting love. The media has convinced America...we are bigots and Christianity is bigotry...we WILL be persecuted. Your family, neighbors and friends will turn on you, be ready God has already warned us. Did you believe him? We can fight, but God will win and he has set the stage...not them. Be faithful! Be ready in season and out to explain your faith.

God Bless....know your God...know your Bible....start getting out of debt to man. Owe no one but God!

lets face It the north east is gone, totally gone, next will be NH,ME and they are still trying to get it in NY where the court said no last time

anything north of VA has gone really.,sad as it is the homosexuals moved into those areas, get kids to brainwash and then infiltrate churches by pretending to be normal

it is only till they have developed a friendship with some in the church they then tell them they are queer, that they just love each other, they are just want to be left alone etc

Course those in the church buy it as they seemed normal for the last few months. They then tell others that they have no problem with homosexuals as they know one.
How many times have you heard , well I know a homo and they are nice they just love their partner

maybe next time they should go to their freak parades and see how these homos really act

Yep. Hard to believe that the same lifestyle that not only spread AIDS, but that the people who shouted at the CDC not to impinge upon their rights in the bath houses of San Fran and NYC are now being embraced. And they've come all this way while still comprising only 2% of the population.

Money talks.

We are witnessing the perfect storm.

Decades of Fabian socialism coming to a head.

Combined with decades of destroying America from within (Gramci’s plan).

Combined with foreign forces gathering their strength and enmity against us.

Combined with a communist in the White House as an “enabler” of all these gathering forces to destroy us once and for all. Stock up on precious metal (gold, silver, lead), seeds, water, food. Try to have an alternative spot of land way the hell away from all populated areas to move to, and learn to raise your own food. If this country is to survive, it will be saved by those who are independent and who have a functioning network amongst themselves and who adhere to traditional American values.

The problem with relying on that is depending on how the USSC views this type of legislation. If the USSC views this as a fundamental civil right, ALL states will be forced to recognize the gay marriages performed in other states.
