-don’t worry, he’ll get there. he is well on his way into stripping us of our privacy, and our civil rights.
-And he’ll do it, using the dept. of Homeland Security and the Patriot Act.
-And I ask again my fellow conservatives:

How do you like the Patriot Act NOW?
Not such a good idear after all, was it?

IIRC it was the forum's Libertarian members who screamed the loudest about the mere notion of a HLS.

They aptly pointed out the apparent and obvious potential for abuse(s), I suspect, we'll all be seeing a lot more of in the coming weeks, months and years from this monster.

Too late to apologize to those people, too.
They were summarily kicked off the forum, disgraced and disrespected.
Where they are today, is anyone's guess.

Its up to the suspect, witness, etc., to maintain his silence. Even if your “right to remain silent” is waived you don’t HAVE to say anything

again, you are confusing the two rights

wrt the 5th amendment, you can waive that at any time, even after invoking it

wrt the 6th amendment, once you invoke it, law enforcement is not supposed to speak to you without your attorney present

the problem comes post-invocation of the 6th when the defendant wants to talk to law enforcement. if the waiver of the 6th amendment right to counsel is not fully informed, any information obtained is not usable

most Courts will not find a waiver fully informed unless it is done on the record in front of judge

obviously law enforcement would rather speak to the person before their attorney can make them see their mistake...

I recall the disrespectfull things said about Bob Barr, because he opposed the Patriot Act.

I wasn’t aware of the liberatarians that were kicked off...that’s too bad, and as you said; It’s too late to apologize to them...

Yes, but with or without them the fights commenced, nonetheless.

Be there, or be square. ;^)

Miranda was made up under the assumption cops lie about having advised suspects of their rights. So as long as we’re assuming, what’s to say they can’t just lie about having Mirandized someone ,too? (not all states tape confessions)
Seems silly to interrupt a suspect who starts spilling his guts on the ride to precinct so you can “mirandize” him. This scheme was invented by the same ilk who think there are people who don’t know smoking is bad for you and
thereby they should be awarded money for smoking .If you won’t or can’t read the Bill of Rights, don’t complain when you don’t know your rights.

In an interesting aside, Ernesto Miranda of miranda fame was murdered in a bar fight and his murderer was freed due to not being “mirandized” correctly. He got his justice, IMO.what comes around, goes around.
