EDITORIAL: Beauty & the beast. Miss USA contest shuns Christian values
The Washington Times ^ | April 24, 2009 | Editorial

Beauty contests have turned ugly. Pageants used to celebrate good, old-fashioned values, but today a young lady cannot be crowned Miss USA unless she supports same-sex marriage. Talk about tripping up on the runway.

On Sunday, Miss California Carrie Prejean was rejected for the Miss USA crown because she defended traditional marriage. One of the pageant's five judges, celebrity blogger Perez Hilton, bluntly asked Miss California if she supported same-sex marriage. Her response was: "I believe that a marriage should be between a man and a woman. No offense to anybody out there, but that's how I was raised, and that's how I think it should be ... ." Mr. Hilton told ABC News that "She lost it because of that question. She was definitely the front-runner before that."

Mr. Hilton, who is a homosexual, later called Miss Prejean a string of vulgarities unfit for print, said she had "half a brain," and fumed that he would have ripped the tiara off her head had she won. The judge explained that the San Diego Christian College student wasn't fit for the title because, "Miss USA should represent all Americans, and with her statement she instantly was divisive and alienated millions of gays and lesbians, their families, friends and supporters."

“he just got....free publicity”
TRump was on THe Factor last night, and said the same thing,to the effect that “it’s being discussed on the Factor, how stupid could it be”—the usual “you can’t argue with success” marketplace argument from Trump.
The really interesting thing is that this Hilton “guy”
could’ve asked that question of ANY contestant, couldn’t he have? Instead he picked the wholesome blonde, who his gay instincts told him was probably straight as an arrow,
and he did this STRICTLY IN ORDER TO PROVOKE, AND FURTHER POLARIZE THE ISSUE. The aftermath, when Mr. Hilton went into an idiot diatribe about ripping the tiara off her head if she’d won, AND the interesting claim of his that she lost BECAUSE she’s narrow=minded, shows what his agenda is, and just how hopeless the whole issue is in the public realm to ever be discussed objectively.

It should read, “...make it appear she did not win due to her answer....?” Oops

The obvious question is, what is a queer doing judging a bikini contenst?

Helping them redecorate their house, helping them pick flattering outfits, yes.

But judging them?

Epic FAIL.

(...and how did a loud, rude, obnoxious young TWIT get named to the panel of judges anyway? And how is "gay marriage" related to a bunch of bathing beauties anyway -- there is NO personal interest in it for him except the risk of having less mean available for him...)

Cheers!

Not all -- some of them like to play, er, wide receiver (backfield in motion).

Cheers!

Trump put the little fudge packer on that panel specifically to create a controversy like the one that he did. Trump has never been one to turn up his nose at some extra publicity, however sleazy.

And I’m sure we can conclude that Lavandeira would have picked on them with the same gusto that he showed toward Miss Prejean, if given the chance.

This whole brouhaha is being unfair to the winner from NC. I propose that next year each girl be given the same 3-4 questions and put the other 4 in soundproof booth while the one is answering. That would be the best way to evaluate performance on questioning.

A Beauty contestent is judged by her character (or lack thereof if you believe the “judge”)

A president is elected in large part for the way he looks.

The United States has passed critical mass for stupidity.

John 15:18-19 “If the world hates you, realize that it hated me first. If you belonged to the world, the world would love its own; but because you do not belong to the world, and I have chosen you out of the world, the world hates you.”

I have long since refused to recognize the validity of democratic candidates who are “elected” to office.

There are no laws that say anyone has to recognize obummer as a president. We only have to obey the law.

There is no reason to recognize anyone but Miss California as Miss USA. None. Miss California should be crowned in a separate ceremony and given twice as much money as the runner up and given speaking engagements. Further no homosexals lesbians, or liberals should be allowed as judges. We should hold our own USA pageant.

Why is it that conservatives and Christians are always the ones who are divisive and never the ones who are alienated?
It would seem to me that these terms work both ways.

I fear you're wrong about one thing. Logically, Hilton's disgusting behavior should turn people off and wake people up to the fascism of the homosexual agenda. But in liberal America, bullying works. The practical effect of this will be that people opposed to the homosexual agenda will keep silent to an even greater degree, and the next girl asked about same-sex “marriage” on national television will give the approved answer.

Maybe it’s because we consider propagandizing and agitation beneath our dignity and leave them to the libs. We really need to stop worrying about appearances and start going for the throat just like the enemy does. We are more numerous than them so we should prevail against the stupid twits.
