Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's candidate for Israeli ambassador to Washington, Dr. Michael Oren, supports a unilateral Israeli withdrawal from the West Bank and an evacuation of most of the settlements.
Oren, a visiting Georgetown University professor, said in a lecture there last month, "The only alternative for Israel to save itself as a Jewish state is by unilaterally withdrawing from the West Bank and evacuating most of the settlements."
Oren, a Middle East expert and senior researcher at Jerusalem's Shalem Center, gave a 90-minute lecture entitled "The Gaza Crisis from an Historical and Personal Perspective on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict."
Answering questions from attendees, Oren voiced his opinions about possible solutions to the conflict and the policy Israel should take. He emphasized that he does not represent the majority of Israelis.
"I may be the last of the standing unilateralists," he said. "The only thing that can save Israel as a Jewish state is by unilaterally withdrawing our settlements from the West Bank," and waiting for a new Palestinian leadership.

NO, it’s called, round up the Palestinians, move them to Jordan (where they were supposed to go, in the first place), and annex the Gaza Strip and West Bank.
The real question is why so many U.S. citizens of Jewish ancestry voted for this Traitor.
I am still dumbfounded.
Bibi might do just that, and I would not blame him.
There is no “West Bank”. Only Judea and Samaria! Mekhtoub!(it is written!)
Hey Oren, how did the Gaza withdrawal you advocated work out for Israel? Settlers withdrawing from the W. Bank would yield the same results (on a larger scale) -- convince the enemy that terrorism works, and encourage them to continue until Israel is annihilated.
Probably because they would rather be stabbed in the front then be stabbed in the back.
I still do not understand.
I would rather not be stabbed at all.
I am also aware that we have not always been that “loyal” to our “allies”.
Here is the deal- The state of Israel has no better friend in this world than some of the Christian community (the non-lib Christians).
We are forever brothers in the same battle.
1. Israel is incapable of cleansing Palestinians.
2. Israel is incapable of maintaining occupation regime forever.
3. There will be no peace.
And hence unilateral action is the only way.
And how fast did it happen, indeed, it took just 40+ years to figure out this incredibly complicated (sarcasm) matter.
Condi did not treat them very well. Look at what ended up happening. Being shelled by thousands of rockets. But yes, many Israelis and Jews are sympathetic to socialism. They more or less have been forced into that simply by association (Soviet Union). Similar to countries like Georgia (birthplace of Stalin) that supported the US Democratic President.
It is an illusion to think that we will ever bring about Peace in the Middle East.
It simply will not happen. It is hard for even (moderate) Christians much less politicians to accept that.
I have read the last chapter of my copy of “the Book” and understand enough to know who will win in the end and who I will always support.
I know, most of the world does not take such things seriously, but I do.
Dr. Michael OrenBibi needs to tell Obama to not bother to send the bastard.

Maariv said that Rahm Emanuel requested Oren. Netanyahu is throwing him a bone.
Oren will not set policy. He is a good speaker. American born so his English is great. I don’t think this has to be a problem.
