As far as long haul - probably not coast to coast, but definitely north south, e.g. I 95 or I 81.

We travel those routes fairly often and see trucks from all up and down those corridors.

I agree, trucks carry a lot of stuff. Making the price of their fuel arbitrary based on lifestyle control is an artificial control mechanism based on a desire for just pure domination.
