The Texas State Board of Education on Wednesday came down with a reprimand on its social studies curriculum working group after a draft proposal of the group’s new curriculum came to light showing a series of far-left changes that education bureaucrats wanted to install in place of the traditional Texas social studies curriculum.

About time.

Some of America's most pernicious enemies are at work in the public school systems.

Wow! I’m in the process of earning my alternative certification (already have a college degree) to teach Social Studies in Texas. This is the type of stuff that drives me to teach.

We should tar and feather these liar revisionists then run them up a windmill. The rest that should happen to these liars is not fit for publication.

Cargill suggested that board members contact the Texas Association of School Boards to recruit sane citizens to provide the balance needed to full-time Marxist Fellow Travelers.

There, I fixed it.

The clear statement in the article being that the professional educators who volunteered for this board are radical leftists. The hate-America crowd.

The left begab coopting education 50 years ago. It has largely succeeded from K thru university. And right now the commies want to take over day care, too.

The fact is, the public has largely ignored the left’s coopting education in America. In the old days when education was more of neighborhood event parents took ownership of their local school. They even attended Board of Ed meetings.

However, the push by the left for two-parent careers, dumbing down of parents and regionalization of schools has resulted in (1) parents not having time/energy to be interested (2) parents just not caring and parents not identifying in a personal way with schools their kids attend.

Several years ago my regional school spent millions building a new high school. At the time I was a school bus driver so I was on the campus for the ribbon cutting. As far as I could tell not one parent showed up. I was amazed at the indifference to how education tax dollars are spent.

Seems like Texas is still surviving the yankee invasion of the 70s and 80s

and lately the brown invasion of the south

for now

I note your post with a certain degree of amusement. The DUmmies spilt gallons of electronic “ink” accusing Bush of abusing substances in the White House. That theme has suddenly gone dark and silent on their site. I can’t imagine it has anything to do with bias on their part or anything. I’m sure they’d be fair and impartial about that, wouldn’t they?

Give it a month and they will be back at it again. The left is relentless our victories are NEVER permanent, merely temporary.
