A photo shoot involving a 747 used as Air Force One and two fighter jets flying at low altitude led to hundreds of frightened calls from residents and workers in Lower Manhattan this morning, triggering memories of 9-11 as many evacuated their offices...
According to officials, the flight -- authorized by the FAA -- came in as low as 1000 feet to 150 feet above the city as it made a large circle over Manhattan, Staten Island, and New Jersey...
Other officials noted that they were led to believe the flight would be limited to the area near the Statue of Liberty, however the flight pattern was above a much larger portion of New York and at an extremely low altitude.

Technically, an Air Force plane is not "Air Force One" unless POTUS (and presumably, TOTUS) is on board. At all other times, it goes by its normal identifier.
The other branches of the armed forces use the same convention. For instance, "Marine One" is the helicopter that lands on the lawn of the White House -- but only when the President is on board.
Reportedly, "Cadillac One" is the nickname of the armored limousine.
I think it was a stunt for his 100 days press conference that went horribly wrong.
They’re lying through their teeth.
(1) Doing it at 10 am Monday morning, and freaking out all the people working in lower Manhattan, rather than at 7am Sunday when most people would be asleep and not notice it.
(2) Not notifying the media, police, etc at least 24 hours ahead of time, so they could tell people on the prior night's evening news "This is gonna happen, don't freak".
(3) Couldn't this "photo op" have been done more cheaply using computer imaging, rather than tie up 3 expensive jets?
Local authorities were notified, however they were told NOT to notify the public.
I guess they wanted to get some ‘public panic’ shots, as well as shots of the aircraft.
Some Hollywood mogul making a movie, and the Obama administration cooperating.
He is likely still laughing about the ‘panic’ caused.
Wonder who pocketed the money the PRODUCER had to pay to get use of the Presidential Aircraft????????

It’s frightening when looked at from the perspective of an office in Lewisville, Texas.
I was in NYC six weeks after 911 and I’ll never forget the smell. It was a combination of burnt wire insulation and rotten meat. I asked a resident what the smell was and he told me “Remember the World Trade Center? You’re breathing it.”

When I worked at BP America, our mailroom would test for bombs.
They did bomb tests where a package would be rigged to look like a bomb on X-Ray. The worker was supposed to spot it before it made it up on the floors.
One time a lady on the 39th (law) floor opened a box to find what looked like a bomb inside. EMS had to be called for her.
Now, how stupid was it to....
1. Not put a note in saying it was a test bomb
2. Not call to the recipient saying a test was being done.
This is the same thing.
Keep track of the casualty count. Bound to be some heart fibs, broken ankles and diaper rash.

Think of all the carbon spewing from this needless flight. Bambi will have us sweltering or shivering in darkened homes to save the planet from global warming, but will allow this stuff.

Photo ops like this are done all of the time with the backdrop of famous landmarks. Go to USAF.mil and click and search for photos. There is a really cool one of the Thunderbirds over the Statue of Liberty.
It’s good to know that something still reminds people of 9/11.
