Britain's Prince of Wales accused of hypocrisy for jetting on environment tour.
Britain's Prince Charles has come under criticism for using a luxurious private jet during his his current European trip whose purpose was to highlight environmental issues. Politicians, critics and the British media have accused the prince of hypocrisy, because the trip, which began Saturday, will cover about 2,200 miles and add an estimated 53 tons to the carbon footprint.
This is the second time the prince of Wales has come under fire for flying on a private jet. In February, he used a chartered jet for another environmental tour, a 16,000 mile trip to South America.
"Prince Charles seems not to realize that he enormously weakens his case for tackling climate change by his own profligate and careless habits," adding that he found it "deeply unattractive to have somebody lecturing you on climate change when they are one of the greatest emitters of carbon themselves."
Prince Andrew...has also been accused recently of wasting thousands of pounds of taxpayers' money by chartering jets and helicopters to play golf and undertake other personal activities that have earned him the titles "Junket of York" and "Air Miles Andy" by the British media.

According to experts from the Carbon Managers company, which carries out environmental audits, the aircraft’s four European flights over 2,200 miles will leave a carbon footprint of 52.95 tons - nearly five times the average person’s 11-ton footprint for an entire year.
Each member of Charles’s party will leave a carbon footprint of 4.41 tons - 13 times more than if they had used a scheduled flight on the same type of plane, which can carry up to 156 passengers.
The flights on the specially converted jet, which boasts a master suite with its own lavatory and shower, will cost an estimated £80,000 - five times more than business-class fares on scheduled airlines.
The Prince of Wales : nations have “less than 100 months to act” to save the planet from irreversible damage due to climate change.

Sorry, 2,200 miles is nothing. He’s pulled the same stunt to fly to the Americas and Asia for “environmental conferences”. I don’t see how anyone could call that anything but hypocritical.
