He did this only to try to keep his seat.
What a yutz.

Can he be recalled? I’m a Pennsylvanian who voted for him because I wanted a Republican in the Senate, not a Democrat.

I am still pissed Bush chose to support this assclown. You can bet the dems made him a sweet offer, that’s for sure. As much as I dislike Joe Lieberman, I’d laugh if he switched.

The problem is that they’ve got their lock on 60 until 2010. There is no stopping the socialist blitzkrieg that will get rammed through in the next 12 months.

I would imagine that Mr. Specter knows the Democrats will be the majority party for a very long time. He just doesn't want to be in the minority any longer.
The TOTUS and his handlers have virtually guaranteed that Democrats will rule this country for a very, very long time. (Oh, and you paid for it...)

"It will be VERY interesting to see if he draws a Dem primary opponent. Before he announced, I thought it was very curious that there weren't any announced Dem candidates, nor was their any Dem that was being publicly pushed to run. I bet when all the dust settles, that this has been in the works for some time.

Only if and when Al Franken is seated. Until then, 59.
To: Joiseydude
Specter always has been a steaming, back-stabbling, duplicitous POS. No principles, no honor. He’ll fit in perfectly as an overt Democrat.
To: Joiseydude
Perfect fit for the UnAmerican Democrat Party.

The last good thing Specter did was put an end to that silly Anita Hill.
I have to give him props for the way he defended Clarence Thomas. After that, though, he has been an embarrassment.
To: Joiseydude
This may make it even harder to avoid the Dems having 60 Senators.
To: Creek Injun
I hope Juan McCain switches - probably to the Mexico PRI Party. I am so sick of RINOs.
