Two L.A. County deaths possibly related to swine flu, coroner says [UPDATED]
9:09 AM | April 28, 2009
The Los Angeles County coroner's office is investigating two recent deaths that officials say could be related to the recent global swine flu outbreak. However, no tests have come back positive for the swine flu, and medical examiners have not officially determined what caused the deaths.
[Updated at 9:30 a.m.: Coroner's spokesman Craig Harvey said his office would collect specimens from the deceased and send them to the county public health department, which would determine whether either person died from the swine flu. If so, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention would be notified, Harvey said.]

If you haven't stocked up on food, you better do it now. When this hits the MSM, the stuff is going to hit the fan.

I wonder how many times people are recalling Stephen King’s “the stand” about now.

Flu deaths are nothing new in the United States or elsewhere. The Atlanta-based Centers for Disease Control and Prevention estimates that about 36,000 people died of flu-related causes each year, on average, during the 1990s in the United States. But the new flu strain is a combination of pig, bird and human viruses that humans may have no natural immunity to.

If we start seeing deaths here, that will create a panic at some point.

Any discussion or comparison to deaths of the regular flu are invalid and should not even be brought up.
This is a new strain. It really doesn’t matter that the regular flu kills some as well because this is killing YOUNG, HEALTHY people.

The way this disease should be evaluated is as follows:
1. How contagious is the pathogen?
2. What is the morbidity and mortality percentages to be expected in the general population.
Until those two questions are answered any speculation about the danger and extent of the disease are not grounded in fact. This disease may be a horrible threat are it may not be a great threat. With the information that is now available we do not know at this time.

Over here, although it is not out of the realm of possibility we will get hit somehow and we probably will get our first Mexiflu case too, as did Korea apparantly, nevertheless, they will NOT take this sitting down here, and we are fortunate "PC" generally speaking is nearly non-existent in Japan, as the tagline says. Japanese won't care the slightest bit about isolating foreigners OR Japanese who end up catching the Mexican flu from having traveled there and upon returning to Japan, despite how "racist" or "insensitive" it might be to take these social precautions. (We USED to do this in the states....anybody remember seeing a home with a "Quarantine" sticker on the front door/porch and the people inside forbidden from coming outside?)
"Insensitive" to the Japanese is imperiling whole segments of a population through a horrific disease all in an effort to be "sensitive" with liberal sentiments which in and of themselves are necessarily suicidal.
On this side: extra food/water/cooking supplies CHECK, tamiflu CHECK, cash if needed CHECK, generator/batteries CHECK, bug out kit CHECK, surgical Vilene-type masks CHECK (Japanese love these kinds of masks in public for cold/flu control), hand disenfectants CHECK, etc etc. ad nauseum -- and still slowly adding to it -- I recommend the same for folks stateside, pandemic or no pandemic, just common sense and considering who is in the White House these days. Much of the usual preparation for earthquakes or typhoons for this fragile little archipelago, except perhaps for the Roche stuff.
Now, if we could just get Kim Jong il off our back.

how many young healthy people has this Flu killed? What is your source because, with all due respect, I don’t believe it. No one in the US had died. It’s all in Mexico. And there are tons of variables as to why people died, like underlying medical issues only exacerbated by the flu.
