The shadow Leader of the House of Commons made the comment on Friday's Have I Got News for You, prompting complaints to the BBC, Ofcom and even the police.
The openly gay MP, who is married to 40-year-old press officer James Dunseath, was commenting on remarks made by the reigning 21-year-old Miss California Carrie Prejean at the Miss America beauty pageant last week.
She was asked whether every US state should legalise gay marriage, and replied: "I believe that a marriage should be between a man and a woman.
"No offence to anybody out there, but that's how I was raised and that's how I think it should be – between a man and a woman."
Mr Duncan, 51, described blonde Miss Prejean as a "silly bitch", then added: "I don't agree with her at all."
After a pause, he went on: "If you read that Miss California has been murdered, you will know it was me won't you?"
Fellow contestants on the BBC One programme, comedians Katy Brand, Frank Skinner and Paul Merton, appeared shocked by his comments.
"That's a hell of a statement to be making on camera there Alan," Katy Brand said.
"For someone planning to be Home Secretary," Paul Merton added.
It is not known how many people complained to the BBC or Ofcom. The Metropolitan Police received a complaint from George Hargreaves, the leader of evangelical political party The Christian Party whose members believe that homosexuality is a sin.

Of course this wasn’t a hate crime. I have read of many accounts of British people being accused of hate crime for much less if they made any critical comments about any protected minority especially Muslims.

I think that Winston Churchill just got out of his grave and applied for political asylum in Israel (he has doubts about a future for the US).
I fit in that broad category and think she (Miss America contestant) is a lovely woman who got treated horribly. I also keep my mouth shut about politics generally around my gay friends though. I always end up screaming “you’re insane!” There might not be many like me though...
Now....I NOT defending this guy.....but this show is from the UK’s HIGNFU (which is full of the good ol’ British irony and snark and I’ve been a fan of the show for years). I will reserve my judgment until I’ve seen the vid.
