Tory Alan Duncan defends joke about killing Miss America contestant
The Telegraph ^ | 4/27/2009

The shadow Leader of the House of Commons made the comment on Friday's Have I Got News for You, prompting complaints to the BBC, Ofcom and even the police.

The openly gay MP, who is married to 40-year-old press officer James Dunseath, was commenting on remarks made by the reigning 21-year-old Miss California Carrie Prejean at the Miss America beauty pageant last week.

She was asked whether every US state should legalise gay marriage, and replied: "I believe that a marriage should be between a man and a woman.

"No offence to anybody out there, but that's how I was raised and that's how I think it should be – between a man and a woman."

Mr Duncan, 51, described blonde Miss Prejean as a "silly bitch", then added: "I don't agree with her at all."

After a pause, he went on: "If you read that Miss California has been murdered, you will know it was me won't you?"

Fellow contestants on the BBC One programme, comedians Katy Brand, Frank Skinner and Paul Merton, appeared shocked by his comments.

"That's a hell of a statement to be making on camera there Alan," Katy Brand said.

"For someone planning to be Home Secretary," Paul Merton added.

It is not known how many people complained to the BBC or Ofcom. The Metropolitan Police received a complaint from George Hargreaves, the leader of evangelical political party The Christian Party whose members believe that homosexuality is a sin.

Didn't hear about his comments initially, but it sounds like he epitomizes the modern, conservative, well-adjusted homosexual.

Distinctly a different beast than "Perez Hilton" -- but the underlying thought process is identical. Something to keep in mind when dealing with a "reasonable" homosexual: the hate that rests inside.

Well, not only is he rude, he’s stupid.

It was the Miss USA contest, not Miss America.

Of course this wasn’t a hate crime. I have read of many accounts of British people being accused of hate crime for much less if they made any critical comments about any protected minority especially Muslims.

One already knows that he was serious about the murder statement when comedians are shocked.

Where are all these “moderate” homosexuals and Muslims the mdia so frequently reference? Talk about epidemics, it seems that laryngitis has permanently struck millions from both of these groups. Bob

I'm sure the "Conservative Party" of Britain will have no problem at all with Duncan's remarks. I hope he chokes on a choda.

Bloody poofter.

Is there any further doubt that homosexuals hate and despise women?

The Conservatives in England are just about as bad as the Labour Party. And from what I have heard, the Social Democrats are worse than Labour.

Not much for the voters to choose from. No wonder the country keeps going downhill.

Seriously, this kind of stuff will only stop when these fags know that somebody will find them when they are all alone and beat them to within an inch of their worthless lives. This is exactly what would have happened in the past if one of these knobsuckers had dared to make an over the top comment like this.

I would volunteer to administer the ass beating, but this homo is on the other side of the pond.

Isn't that what your "husband" calls you at home? (shudder)
