My antennae started to go up as I heard various reports about the first reported swine flu death in the USA. A 23-month old child “from Texas” was all that we were told. Googling, I found the ABC article above pointedly mentioning that “the CDC released no other information about how — or where — the child may have contracted the disease.”

(1) Local union guys don't think the plant is clean,
(2) Local residents think the plant stinks,
(3) Father said "EVERYBODY HAD IT" and "EVERYBODY RECOVERED".
All of which just has to color the legitimacy of this discovery, expecially the business about everybody recovering from it. That's simply not the case more recently.
Yet, at the supposed starting point the locals say there's a 100% infection rate and nobody dies.

The grasshoppers have out numbered the ants, and the left is struggling for control. They need money - big money. The ants are already over taxed, but if the left can get their hands on the ants insurance premiums, they'll have unlimited funds to buy their votes and feed their wanting base.
They also want everyone on National Mortgage and National Auto as well, because the left wing base also wants these things for free. They're working on it.
All your cash will belong to them. That's the plan. Without your money, they have nothing to feed their dependant base.
That having been said, they are extremely media-aware, and do not want to make any statements which will restrict their freedom of action.
If and when they confirm more deaths, they are going to have to do things they do not want to do.
It does not help that there's no head of CDC and no Surgeon General.
The politicization of CDC goes all the way back to 1976 and Jerry Ford's famous flu shot on national TV, and has been profound under GOP and RAT administrations both.
In my personal opinion, any real person would be stone out of their mind to accept either the CDC or SG job, which is why we get what we get.

There is a flood of information, a lot of it is contradictory or unclear, and everyone (every professional one) in PHS knows that if any politician winds up looking bad the professionals involved will be crucified.
I have no evidence that this is worse under "Obama" than under either Bush, Clinton, or Reagan.

What do the lefties do then? Yeah you could try to arrest everyone or seize everything but that only works once. They depend on regular and predictable income.

Maybe not. The left wants that Health Care Welfare. They need it bad. Medicaid and Medicare are going broke. They need the insurance premiums to help pay for them. If everyone were on Health Care Welfare, the wealth would be "shared".
This flu is a brew of three different flues. The odds of that combination happening by accident seems rather odd to me.
It's not about you or me. It's not about citizens. It's about power and privilege. The left is losing control. They can't afford to feed their dependent voters much longer. There's just not enough available cash in their coffers. Their base continues to want. They need more, and in order to survive, they'll have to do what ever it takes to get it.
There are unconfirmed reports that three Mexican doctors have died after treating infected patients. More than 80 cases have been confirmed in other countries. [more than that as we have almost that many here]
