The YouTube cut had been deleted. Had to find it on another music site.

I remember hearing Henry Luce speak at either the 10th or the 15th anniversary National Review Dinner. He was there with his wife, the equally famous Clare Booth Luce. I am sure that they are spinning in their graves so quickly that they have screwed their way to the center of the Earth.

Last year I read the three-volume history of TIME, Inc. It covered the company’s history from its founding in 1923 to about 1980.

Time Inc.; the intimate history of a publishing enterprise 1923-1941
The World of Time Inc.: The Intimate History... 1941-1960
The World of Time Inc.: The Intimate History of a Changing Enterprise : 1960-1980

It is my opinion that Henry Luce - while not nearly as conservative as the average FReeper - was very conservative compared to the ‘journalists’ of today. And he was first among equals in the media business during his reign.

I believe his opinion acted as an anchor that prevented the rest of the media from becoming the liberal morass that it is today. He retired in the mid-60s and if one were to trace the time frame of when the media went totally left, it would coincide with that time frame.
