Bill Clinton Says World Owes Nelson Mandela His Day
US News & World Report ^ | April 27, 2009 | Paul Bedard

Posted on 04/29/2009 10:07:27 AM PDT by presidio9

In what is arguably his most significant gift to friend and former South African President Nelson Mandela, Bill Clinton is lending his name to the effort to establish a global Mandela Day around his July 18 birthday. The campaign and Clinton's involvement will be announced today by the Nelson Mandela Foundation and the humanitarian group named after his prison number: 46664.

Bubba, referring to the name friends give Mandela, says: "More than any human being, Madiba has been the great inspiration for the life I lead and the work I do, especially in the area of HIV/AIDS. In return for everything Madiba has taught us, we each owe it to him to support his work and legacy by doing and living our own as best we can, not just on this day but throughout our entire lives."

During and after his presidency, Clinton was close to Mandela, 90, and the Clinton Foundation was built around some of the same issues with which Mandela deals, such as HIV/AIDS.

Here's the deal: Mandela's foundation is eager to give the apartheid leader his day in the sun. They've established a campaign, http://www.mandeladay.com, to make July 18 a day to both celebrate Mandela's life and his values. While the campaign launches today, posh parties will take place later in Washington and Los Angeles to herald Mandela Day. In Los Angeles, the actor Forest Whitaker and his wife will host one party.

The Mandela Day website adds details on the issues that would be focused on every July 18:

Personally, I see the fact that we've had a vacation from the prospect of nuclear armageddon for the past 17 years as an even better reason for a worldwide "Ronald Reagan Day."

The Roxbury section of Boston wanted to secede and rename it Mandela. The idea was dropped when they were informed that they would have to without the services that the taxes the city of Boston provides.

The link has a list of his charges which for which he was jailed as well as his handwritten Communist manifesto.

Other than murder people and spend half his life in prison, what has Mandela done to get this level of respect.

Hell, GWB did more for HIV/AIDS in Africa than “any” damned African ever thought about doing.

Anybody who can read this, but doesn't understand that a least one major world city (and the millions of people in it) will be completely annihilated by a nuclear weapon at some point on our lifetime, needs to be outside blowing bubbles or drawing on the sidewalk with chalk right now. We'll see if Reagan finally gets his due after that happens, but I doubt it.

I have never gotten off for Columbus day in my life, and I have always lived in areas with large Italian populations. The one that always gets me, though, is the fact that we get off for Martin Luther King's Birthday, but not Lincoln's. I have no problem celebrating MLK Day, but it seems pretty ironic to me, if we are not first celebrating Lincoln's.

Let me guess, July the 4th is probably close enough to the 18th to be the right day.

I don’t want to see a Martin Luther King redo, sacrificing those who need to be honored so that someone else not so worthy can be.

Since when does our nation declare national holidays for people who aren’t even citizens of our nation?

The best thing that can be said about Nelson Mandela is that he's a Communist ANC swine, who is complicit in the murder of a policeman and of planning and conducting hundreds of terrorist attacks, mostly on other black Africans.

Of course, when championing him as "the" great black leader, his mewling, apologetic, American liberal supporters always conveniently omit that fact, and that he was little more than a puppet for Joe Slovo (white), who was himself Andropov’s (white) lackey. Joe Slovo sent probably millions of black Africans to their deaths during decades of his background manipulations. Where's the outrage? Where's the scandal? Probably not 1 in a thousand Americans have even heard of him. Probably not one in a million American blacks have ever heard of him, either.

The picture I posted above in post#12 is Mandela with SACP boss, Joe Slovo. For those that don't check out the link, it has a list of Mandela's charges including...

"the preparation, manufacture and use of explosives—for the purpose of committing acts of violence and destruction in the aforesaid Republic, (the preparation and manufacture of explosives, according to evidence submitted, included 210,000 hand grenades, 48,000 anti-personnel mines, 1,500 time devices, 144 tons of ammonium nitrate, 21.6 tons of aluminum powder and a ton of black powder)

But the left gives him the "Peace Prize". Sickening...
