You got a link?
This is breaking news on local tv, I posted it to chat because I have no link...
Still dumping fuel, TV reports a plane on takeoff has to do it because the plane is too heavy to land with a full fuel tank...
live here, plane is dumping fuel now http://www.king5.com/
Live feed of plane.
News person said numerous people heard a loud boom, flames coming from engine. Live feed now showing plane circling SeaTac dumping fuel for emergency landing.
Could have ingested a bird. Turbines don’t like birds.
Been dumping fuel for 18 - 20 minutes now. A mention was made that there seems to be a lot of fuel considering it is an overseas flight.
Witness on line now.
Said he was on the beach, heard a loud explosion, said he heard another sound like a large helicopter sound, then saw plane with flames shooting out of one engine. Flames were visible for 2 - 3 minutes. Witness lost sight after that.
Good Luck and prayers.
I’m amazed that link is labelled “plane-crash” when the plane is still in the air and may yet make a safe landing on a runway.
Looks like fuel dump is done. Azeana Flght 271.
On final approach...
Gear down...
Anyone know yet if this plane had just taken off from Sea Tac, or, was it coming in from overseas?
Touchdown!!!!
Does Obama know where his planes are at today?
prayers up!
Landed safely...
per KOMO 4 live feed
It had just taken off, headed for Seoul, SK
Plane has landed safely, thank God.
Nice landing.
Thank you for the play-by-play. I couldn’t find this on any TV channel (too busy with the mexican flu story). Glad they’re down OK.

KING
A 777 with smoke coming from it prepares to make an emergency landing at Sea-Tac Airport on Wednesday, April 29, 2009.
Praise God!
Congrats to the crew!
Great Job!
I just heard that the plane was on its way to Seoul.
Safely landed.
This one must have just taken off.
Full stop, fire engines on scene but no smoke or flames.
Safe landing fire trucks and others heading to the plane...emergency evacuation....maybe
It looks like a safe landing. Thank God.
Free cocktails for the passengers.
fire trucks all over the tarmac
Prayers of praise......
and thanks for keeping us posted about the safe landing....
On its way to the gate.
Just another day at the office!
Again, kudos to the crew!
Taxi-ing to gate all clear given to deplane normally...
And to a well build AMERICAN Airplane. Sounds like a goose got sucked in. Just speculation
It was out bound to Seol, just took off, explosion heard, dump fuel in the Sound and landed safely.

Here here! Great job to the manufacturer. Those engines are pretty damned incredible! Landing a plane that size on only one is nothing short of amazing.
It had just taken off; I take that flight 3-4 times a year. Leaves Sea-Tac right around 2:45 PM, usually pretty full of passengers. Asiana is a great airline, too!
I was in a 777 that flamed out on take-off before, when I was leaving Chicago back in February 2007. It was the Chicago-Shanghai flight, so it was topped up with fuel.
We took a hard 4-5 foot “jump” to the left, continued to climb for another 30 seconds, circled over the lake for 20 minutes, turned around, and landed without a problem. Getting the next flight out to Shanghai was a bit of a problem (ended up snagging a BA to London, then BA to Shanghai).
Those 777s are amazing planes, able to maneuver, land and even climb on just a single engine. Kudos to the Boeing guys for designing such a robust plane!
Thank you for the report that it landed safely! Scary stuff!
Could have been a goose, I used to live right near there and there are geese all over the place.
For some reason TV keeps mentioning compressor stall, whatever that means...
What happens to the fuel they dumped?
Just curious. Do they try to dump it over water?
It would suck if you were having a back yard bar-b-que and voila, a mist of jet fuel.
“Taxi-ing to gate all clear given to deplane normally...”
“normally”??
Personally, my first stop would be the lavatory to change prior to deplaning!
It has plenty of power to land safely on one engine.
"Now that's a Faaar!"
"Gus, why the fire so big? You trying to cook a brontosaurus burger? This ain't the Flintstones!"
“Dang, the weatherman din’t say nothing about no Kerosene rain tonight!”
