Specter Could Face Challengers in Democratic Primary
Fox News ^ | Wednesday, April 29, 2009

Not all Pennsylvania Democrats are down with Arlen Specter.

Though the party-switching senator has the support of President Obama and Gov. Ed Rendell, at least two potential candidates are leaving open the door to challenge Specter in the 2010 Democratic primary.

Rep. Joe Sestak, who's been a prolific fundraiser, is considering defying party leaders and running against Specter despite Tuesday's hoopla, though he told FOXNews.com on Wednesday, "I have not made up my mind on it."

Rep. Joe Sestak

Ugh! He was awful in the Navy and now he is awful as a congressman and now he wants to be awful as a Senator. Why did he have to pick Pennsylvania of all places to settle. Military folks can go to any state they want to retire and he had to pick my state??? UGH!!!!

exactly: It would be good if Spector drew a primary opponent (for not being a ‘real Democrat’)..however we then CYNACALLY want Spector to win..(Think about this folks: Spector Wins (the Democratic Party Nomination) (Many Democrats STAY home or vote TOOMEY- GOSH..shock becuase they hate the ‘Opportunist’, not “liberal” Democrat? Do you actually THINK the Unions are going to let him get away with ~NOT~ voting for ‘Card Check’ (EFCA)?) SO WE WANT him to win in the Democrat Primary (it make Pennsylvania that much more attractive toward a Conservative), Oh and it would be even better if he also drew a liberal third pary opponent too (pissed at Spector for his ‘Conservative’ stances on issues-according to their ‘mind’- not Mine (JSDude1)! IT’S ALL ABOUT ‘STRATEGERY’ AS RUSH likes to say!..

In a Specter-Toomey general election, I think a fourth or more of registered Republicans will stick with “their Arlen”.

Spectraitor’s defeat by a demoncRAT challenger followed by the ultimate of a PUB would be the epitome of irony. Say good-bye to your coveted chairmanship of the Senate Judiciary, Spectraitor.

As I recall, the popular Jeffords never ran as a Democrat. Bernie Sanders took the seat instead.

Obama said he would personally support Specter and not “allow” anyone to run against him. It is looking like PA is going to be the place to watch and eat popcorn next year since the GOP is trying to say they will never support Toomey and people like Graham are pushing Ridge to get in the race and we know at least one, maybe two candidate on the democrat side are going to challenge Specter against what Obama wants.

Arlen will get thrown under the bus.

"Thanks for falling for our shtick, Arlen. You bought it hook, line, and sinker." - the DNC.

He thinks all the long-time democrats who have paid their dues should just step aside so that he can run as a democrat. I’m sure he expects some of his fellow senators to step aside so that he can hold a committee or subcommittee chairmanship also.

Maybe Benedict Arlen either loses the primary or so upsets the Democrats in winning it that there is an independent candidate.

If I lived in PA, I would crawl on my knees on broken glass to vote against Specter. I would register 5 times (in Philly of course) to vote against him in the Dem primary. Operation Chaos II. Toomey vs. the looniest lefty we can find. Let’s see who wins.

I don’t care how awful he is. The enemy of my enemy is my friend. Hopefully someone will start Operation Chaos II to fund a serious primary challenge to Specter.

Aw shucks. Hopefully the two RINOs in Florida, the Gov, who’s unfortunately favored to win and the joker with less than 1% support who’s been sending mailers all over the country Felony Hot Checks Thorpe (Marion Thorpe) will join Specter and hopefully none will be in the Senate. Or Specter will come back after having to sit on the same side of the aisle as Barney Frank in joint conference.
