Perhaps this is a tipping point for Twitter - conservative icon Governor Sarah Palin is now tweeting. Under the moniker @AKGovSarahPalin (not very snappy but there are, by my reckoning, already 32 Sarah Palin twitter accounts) the 2008 Republican vice-presidential candidate has plunged into the social networking maelstrom...
...In the 14 hours or so since she's signed up she (or whichever staffer is tweeting for her) has sent three tweets. But there's certainly an appetite out there for all things Palin - in that time she's already gained 2,012 followers.
While the first tweet reads ominously corporate (declaring this is Palin's "official Twitter feed" from which "I'll provide updates on issues concerning Alaskans") the second one, encouragingly, accuses the AP of having "gravely misquoted my staff".
So maybe we'll soon be treated to a stream of "you betcha" and "doggone it" (which Barack Obama nicked last night) tweets laced with wink signs and invective against John McCain aides.
Interestingly, among the 36 people she's following are GOP 2012 nomination rivals (and fellow governors) Bobby Jindal and Tim Pawlenty and - from the media - Drudge (her first follow), Fox duo Sean Hannity and Bill O'Reilly, NBC's David Gregory and ABC's George Stephanopoulos.
What, I hear you wonder, no Katie Couric?

Incredibly surprising?
“For example, I bashed Meghan during the campaign and I was bashed and now everyone agrees with me about her. Funny how I am typically right about everything but it takes FREEPERS a while to catch up :)”
My point exactly... Never liked the girl and never jumped on that rather broad-backsided bandwagon. And here I thought I was the only one who was right!
DANG YOU, NAPS!!! /sarc
How does one sign up to “twitter”? What equipment is required? Is there a website to explain all this?
Thanks.
Twitter is a powerful tool used in the proper way.
You've got to think in terms of promotion for blogs or websites or TV shows etc.
Some people use it for prattling on about there daily life.
But the conservatives are using it to organize and get a message out. Lots of Tea Parties where organized and promoted using Twitter.

There is no equipment and nothing to download. You don’t even need a twitter account to follow someone’s tweets. Having an account will only keep all your tweets in one place. It’s sort of similar to FR, actually.
Just like FR you can choose to update or post “tweets” or just follow others. I have an account, but I don’t update it. I just use it to keep all the pages I follow in one place.

Been there done that. I’m still considered a newbie. When I didn’t like John McCain it ‘bout near got me booted.
Again about the “being right” thing. I even started to support him because I figured all those freepers couldn’t be wrong.
All of them weren’t.
“Coincidence, nothing more.”
Please forgive me when I say, “Duh”.
It was merely an observation of the ironic. I didn’t think it would stick at 2012.
“How does one sign up to twitter? What equipment is required?”
I don’t know, but apparently Sarah Palin has the “equipment” to sign up. By the same token so does Obama... I’m not sure what that means exactly.
Would’ve been better without the description at top. The “1,918 more results” was clever though.
No equipment except what you use to post on Free Republic.
Twitter is all web based just like Free Repiublic.

I just signed up. After proclaiming just yesterday that I would never do just that.
Shirley you jest.
Freepers say McCain sucks.
If the republicans let Palin be Palin (and not box her in as McSAIN tried to) she will make mince meat out of Obie. LOL He will not be able to blame Bush to make him self look like he has substance (which we all no he has nothing).
“Shirley you jest.”
Of course I do... and don’t call me “Shirley”!
