He doesnt know much about anything, including history. We had only two bombs and the next one was a long way off. They werent 100% sure that both of them would work. Truman had no choice, but to end the loss of life on both sides. That kind of analytical thought is WAY beyond someone like Stewart. Remember, he makes his living by making a statement he believes to be ironic, then smirking and waiting for the audience to respond to the laughter cue. An intellectual lightweight.

That's 100% true. The Hiroshima bomb was a uranium bomb, while the Nagasaki bomb was a plutonium bomb. The scientists and engineers were pretty sure that both would work, but they couldn't test both types of bombs. They just didn't have enough of the fissible material. So they had to hope they would both work.
