Chrysler runs out of gas, Chevy hits the accelerator - on the same day. The 2010 Camaro rolls onto America's roadways as the Detroit giant calls it quits. Oh, the irony.

Ha! Anyone that would buy a Camaro made by government workers is out of their mind.
Yeah I was very much interested in the Camaro until the news of GM being nationalized. Forget it now.
It's purdy.
Saw one this morning. Car-carrier headed into Frankfort, IL.
Very pretty but should be selling for closer to ^half^ the MSRP (if they could).
It looks Like a Dodge.
The 2009 Challenger is purtier.
What are you talking about? The government is backing the warranties for all GM products.
It does look like a Dodge.
Ask a Native American about government "guarantees."
I’m sticking with Ford.
I’m sticking with Honda.
“Yeah I was very much interested in the Camaro until the news of GM being nationalized. Forget it now.”
Yep. I had a Camaro back in the early 70s. I’d have seriously considered dumping my old Vette for one. Until the nationalization.
This is going to be painful as it plays out. The government will offer incentives to buy GM, while taxing imports more. The administration has a big stake in protectionism for GM.
So we all pay more to get good cars, while the quality of GM cars, which was bad to begin with, gets worse. I bought Ford stock, I’m going to buy some more soon.
THAT is what a real Camaro looks like.
I will not buy another new vehicle from GM ever again. I’ll just either buy a used Pontiac and BMW or buy a new Toyota.
I can see the similarities. The racing stripes and front end give it the appearance of having a four-toothed grin. Think they have a certain demographic in mind?

My Lamborghini wil smoke it.
Sticking to Honda, that was good, lol
“Im sticking with Honda.”
A good choice. But, I don’t mind rewarding an American company that’s trying to do things the right way. They turned down government money, when it would have been easy to take it. Ford’s quality is way up, due to the influx of Mazada vehicles.
I won’t need a car for a while, but when I do, I’ll seriously look at Ford first.
“It’s purdy.”
Mythbusters proved it, and this is another example... you CAN polish a turd.
Yes, but how about that Social Security deal we got. Think of all the money we are going to get as promised from our government when we retire at 88 years old.
(My SS report says that funding will only support 77% of my "guaranteed benefits.")
“Ill just either buy a used Pontiac ... “
Might want to avoid Pontiac. I had nothing but trouble with my 02 Bonneville.
Which is worse; the government owning GM or the UAW, Fiat and the government owning Chrysler?
“Which is worse; the government owning GM or the UAW, Fiat and the government owning Chrysler?”
Actually, the UAW was given a piece of GM too.
GM and Chrysler are both terminally wounded, but Chrysler will be first in the ground.
Oh absolutely. There's a slight similarity, but the distinction that imo makes the Challenger nicer is the smooth lines whereas that Camaro has sharp edges.
I saw an '09 Challenger at a gas station on a road trip. It was orange with black racing stripes. My jaw dropped. There was another guy talking to the owner who took pictures of it. Then my husband went over to ask the guy about it. This guy must be hounded everywhere he goes. Honestly, when i first saw it i thought it was a restored older model. Just freakin' unbelievably gorgeous!
I have an ‘02 Camaro now with the 200 hp 3.8l V-6; I hear the six in the new one turns out 300 ponies!!!
“I bought Ford stock, Im going to buy some more soon.”
I just bought Ford stock as well. They do seem to be the healthiest of the three to survive the recession w/o gov’t money.
Now that they are both part of the government they are for all intents and purposes immortal.
These companies will have to be in danger of pulling down the government before the government will let them fail.
Not only that, 29 mpg highway for the 6-cylinder.
It is a sad day. A sweet car but as long as the company is owned by the unions, I will not buy another Chrysler.
Add a six pack, high rise intake, tuned headers, polished and ported heads, 5 angle valve job, stiffer valve springs and aggressive cam, not hard to get 600 hp out of it.
“I just bought Ford stock as well. They do seem to be the healthiest of the three to survive the recession w/o govt money.”
I’m not wealthy, and just started messing with my own stocks, (beyond a 401k). I bought $200 of Ford when it was $2.30. I wish I had more “play” money. I felt pretty strongly about Ford’s value at $2.30. Now that it’s over $5, I think it’s still got room to go, but not as fast.
Go Ford.
Looks like a pimp mobile. The huge wheels, skunk stripes and the acute angles guarantee you’ll start seeing it in the crummier parts of Detroit soon.
Besides, your warranty is backed by Barack Obama.
I owned a 2001 Camaro SS. It looked A LOT better than this.
Ugh.
Me. too.
I fell in love with the 1968 Camaro when I was 14.
At 55, I really considered going for the 2010 Camaro, because it is a reincarnation of the 67-68 body style, even though I hat GM cars, having owned more than I ever should have in my life.
Now, the government has even taken that dream from me.The Bailout Camaro--no thanks.

Ok, now THAT is the kind of car that says "I'm an American and proud of it".
The US Car Industry was destroyed by CAFE Standards. Americans don't want some sissy 50 mile per gallon rolling death trap. True Americans want a death trap with 400 horsepower that will go 150 miles an hour.
American want a car that says to them "You have to buy this. Even if your children have to starve, you have to buy this car!"
That is the kind of attitude that GM and Ford had in the 50's and 60's and that is the kind of cars they built. But now, because of CAFE Standards, for every muscle car they build, they have to sell a dozen hybrids.
If the government really cared about the US Car industry, they'd let them build the cars that Americans really covet.
Weird & mean looking car looking for alter ego types/
It looks like a Frankenstein Mobile. Too Big.
Chevy should take the over the Pontiac G8 as the new Impala SS.
No, I wouldn’t want a FWD from Pontiac. Just the fun cars like the Firebird, Trans Am, newer GTO, Solstice etc. I can work of those if something breaks.
I’ve got a 68 SS. Very similiar paint to the black and white 69 posted above. 383 stroker, 700r4, flat tappet 292 Comp cam, roller rocker arms, hypereutectic pistons, ported AFR 205 cc heads w/ 185 cc intake runners, hooker headers, 750 holley racing carb, griffin aluminum radiator, MSD, K&N, 4.10 gears w a true 12 bolt posi, on and on. Too much to list. It will run high 11’s but it’s really a street car. I just LOVE pulling it up next to some foreign car with a loud mouth muffler and absolutely stomping on it’s throat.
It’s not a very green car as it will literally spit fuel through the tail pipes when I first fire it up. Got it running a little rich right now, lol.
I’ll never buy a vehicle from any nationalized American auto company, irregardless of tax incentives down the road, etc.
Now THAT’S a good looking automobile!
Congrats!
The new ‘10 Camaros are hot. I plan on buying one this summer or fall.
I owned a 68 Camaro and I liked it. It always felt fairly solid. My sister in law has a 2002 Camaro and it rattles like crazy and just seems cheap compared to the older ones. The exhaust sounds like a fart in a soda can compared to the Mustang.
