SOUTH BEND — Anti-abortion activist Randall Terry was arrested at about 12:20 p.m. Friday on the campus of the University of Notre Dame.

He was part of a demonstration against President Barack Obama’s upcoming appearance at the Catholic university. The protest involved baby carriages holding dolls covered in fake blood.

Terry, who has promised to protest until Obama’s May 17 scheduled appearance, had been issued a no trespass order by Notre Dame.

Security personnel placed Terry into a vehicle and drove him away.

Notre Dame would NEVER order the arrest of a leftist demonstrator. This is instructive: the nation's foremost apostle of the Culture of Death is to be welcomed and honored by ND. But an admittedly pesky pro-life demonstrator is to be harassed, persecuted, imprisoned. How low ND has fallen.

Now, this might be enough to get a few Priests, and perhaps a Bishop, arrested next to Terry NEXT time around.

What would the wienies on our side have to say, if THAT happened?

All this does is up the ante. Support the protesters, all Notre Dame alumni.

Randall Terry is Randall Terry's cause, and acting like a Liberal is quite in line with it.

How many times have you been arrested protesting abortion?

Terry is wrong sometimes, but his tactics are NECESSARY this time.

I agree 100%. We've allowed ourselves to be silenced and cowed by the folks who are more outraged by Randall Terry holding bloody baby dolls than by actual babies being dismembered LEGALLY.

Enough is enough. Let the critics go to hell. I won't join them by my silence.

We don’t need a right-wing version of Cindy Sheehan.

"Whose mind that believes abortion is a ‘right’ is this going to change."

I've also questioned the usefulness of "shock" propaganda used by some pro-life demonstrators. I find it revolting, but then I've already determined that I'm pro-life, so I don't need any convincing.

Some would argue that abortion is the violent killing of an unborn child. Is Terry’s behavior inappropriate, undignified? Who’s offended, the prenatal dependent awaiting its death in the clinic?

Never, because it wasn't about me...it was about reducing/stopping abortion.

On the other hand, Randall Terry has taken steps to directly undermine the fight against Roe v. Wade, and I think he has done it so he can keep raising money for himself by these stunts. If we win the battle, he can't keep milking people.

He has his methods, you have yours (or so you say--when comparing you and Randall Terry, I'm only certain that one of you is really anti-abortion).

Question: How does attacking Mr. Terry's methods advance the cause?

Answer: It doesn't. But attacking him is a great way to get pro-lifers arguing with each other.

As long as the GOAL is just, and as long as vandalism and violence are not used, you should “allow” everyone on the right to decide, on our own, how to fight the left.

You do not have to join in every expression of protest or every tactic others employ.

However, Conservatives seem to have an antipathy for TRUE protest.

Get over it.

Civil Disobedience might well be the ONLY thing that keeps us from a very real, very violent, shooting revolution down the road.

There is no reason why you need to chime in when others use forms of expression that YOU, YOURSELF would not use.

Try to be “prochoice” on the subject of civil disobedience, would you?

I’m sure he makes money off his efforts but unless he’s independently wealthy his choices are pretty slim. He can either make a living off his efforts as a protester and thus spend more time protesting or he can work for a living and protest in his spare time. Since most of us - when asked why we don’t join the picket lines - say something about having to work I’m equally sure we should understand his situation.

If people are offended seeing dolls covered in fake blood, why aren't they offended by an actual baby bleeding and dying in an abortion?

LOL...what does Randall Terry believe in? He seemed to fight Roe v. Wade and push for the states to decide. Then, when it looked like there might be some success on the horizon (and his gravy train might be in jeopardy), he pushed for greater federal intervention.

I know he's trying to deflect attention from his divorce and his daughter's conversion to Islam and his son coming out as homosexual, etc., but to do it at the cost of the unborn is sick.

BTW, I've belonged to Pro-Life groups and have protested, given pro bono consulting, volunteered, raised funds, etc., for them.
