Why couldn't they let the plane land at Dulles?

You KNOW why.

And who knew that a 737 had the range to fly from Munich to Washington D.C.?

The distance between Munich and Washington D.C. is 3690 NM (4246 miles / 6834 km). So a 737-700ER could fly that distance. According to Boeing's website:

The 737-700ER has the same aerodynamic and structural changes as the successful Boeing Business Jet (BBJ). The 737-700 fuselage has the bigger wing of a 737-800 and additional fuel capacity that allows it to fly up to 2,145 nautical miles farther than the 737-700. The high-performance derivative comes with an option for up to nine auxiliary fuel tanks, giving it a maximum fuel capacity of 10,707 gallons (40,530 liters) and a maximum range of 5,510 nautical miles (10,200 km).

However, I don't think the 737 is allowed to fly across oceans. Last I saw, the only twin engine airliner allowed to do that is the 777.

“Rimshot Joe” was right! Stay off of airplanes.

I wonder if all those bartenders on those Amtrak club cars having been missing Rimshot Joe's quarter tips?

It’s not getting huge. It’s getting over hyped. The media is intentionally blowing this out of proportion to cover up Emperor Zero’s diplomatic failures of the recent weeks and the sharp uptick in terrorist actions in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Actually, Iraq has gone calm again. I guess the terrorists must all have the swine flu.

Seriously, I agree with you. I've been suspecting this was all a bunch of media hype being used as a diversionary tactic.

Just had the Emergency Alert System broadcast a warning message on Fox News in our newsroom that there are “no confirmed cases of swine flu” here.

Way to go....cause more panic. The EAS shouldn’t be used unless there is......an emegency to broadcast, not to try to calm fears.

Witness: Striker was the squadron leader. He brought us in real low. But he couldn’t handle it.

Prosecutor: Buddy couldn’t handle it? Was Buddy one of your crew?

Witness: Right. Buddy was the bombardier. But it was Striker who couldn’t handle it, and he went to pieces.

Prosecutor: Andy went to pieces?

Witness: No. Andy was the navigator. He was all right. Buddy went to pieces. It was awful how he came unglued.

Prosecutor: Howie came unglued?

Witness: Oh, no. Howie was a rock, the best tailgunner in the outfit. Buddy came unglued.

Prosecutor: And he bailed out?

Witness: No. Andy hung tough. Buddy bailed out. How he survived, it was a miracle.

Prosecutor: Then Howie survived?

Witness: No, ‘fraid not. We lost Howie the next day.

As a rule, yes. Meaning viruses are good at sneaking around, when you’re unawares.
