And indeed, he wasn’t called on. Did that ever happen with Bush? I know he skipped Helen Thomas sometimes because he didn’t like her and/or the tone of her questions, but did he ever punish a reporter because that reporter’s agency refused to give him free exposure? It turned out to be a savvy business decision by Fox, but then, in our new command economy, it’s hard to blame The One for insisting that he get his way.

I don't think he uses the teleprompter at a presser. I think he has reporters submit questions ahead of time and then reviews those questions. He then notes the reporters names of the questions he thinks he can answer and calls on them only. He still has a hard time remembering exactly how to answer them and that is why he sounds rather robotic IMO. Have you noticed there is never anything of substance in those pressers?

First Obama used a teleprompter at his first WH presser. Obama then went to a very large video screen directly in front of the podium. Now Obama has, his master, the teleprompter built into the podium.
