A man wearing an Iraqi army uniform has shot dead two US soldiers and injured three others in a military base south of the northern city of Mosul.
The US army said the man was also killed in the incident but gave little information about the attack.
But Iraqi military reports said he was a soldier also working as an Imam for at a mosque on the base.
No motive was given for the attack but Mosul is seen as the last remaining urban stronghold of al-Qaeda in Iraq.
The US army said it had received reports of "small arms fire" in Hamam al-Alil, 20 km (13 miles) south of Mosul.

He was a IMAM at a MOSQUE. HATE SPEECH!!! Countdown to Janet Napoleontano re-labeling of "IMAM" and "MOSQUE" to "religious profferer" and "religious gathering place for innocent ROP followers" in 5...4...3...2...1...

Why on earth does anyone honestly think, after studying and understanding the evil that Islam is and has been for 1,400 years that they will become enlightened and seek freedom and democracy when their very religion doesn’t even allow it. My greatest sadness is that we’ve lost over 4,000 red-blooded, beautiful American soldiers to save a people who in all probability hate them now and forever. What a tragic, sad and sorrowful waste. My prayers go out to those families and their loss and the eventual return of the balance of American soldiers. We’ll need them here when all hell breaks loose and the imports of mohammedism and our south of the border invaders start acting up. It’s only a matter of time. The greatest tragedy is that our elected officials want to destroy America and the American people have yet to stand up, organized, to fight back. When, I ask, when?

I never thought I would ever say these words. BRING THE TROOPS HOME

Some can’t “stand up” until they “wake up”.
Others won’t stand up because they feel alone, isolated, and afraid.
Both groups are being victimized by lying spiritual forces that specialize in deception & fear.

that they will become enlightened and seek freedom and democracy Hello Mr. Anti-war protester from 2006. It's now 2009. Your side lost. Iraqis joined with the coalition forces against your side (al-qaeda). Iraq is now a democratic ally of the U.S. Don't worry though. I know of a place where you can join like minded people. It's called the democratic underground. There you can chat with others who pretend that the U.S. lost and that Iraq is a failure. It will be great fun for you.

BRING THE TROOPS HOMEThat's good so far, and in all caps even. Now you need to declare that our operations in Iraq are a lost cause. Here's a picture for inspiration:

I never thought I would ever say these words. BRING THE TROOPS HOMEAre you surprised? I think this is the 7-8 time, unfortunately, this has happened. And wont be the last
As we continue to train Iraqi soldiers, there will be one (or two) that will pull a gun on our soldiers when their backs are turned.
I still believe those four snipers killed on that roof top were also setup by an inside Iraqi Defense soldier

No deaths - no reports..., nothing to be gained by talking about it
Two deaths - in depth reports..., we must take this crime wave serious for it’s dire impliations
In a nation with any morals at all, the media would be brought up on charges of sedition.

We must continue to Pray for their safety. Yes the man in the White House has changed the whole scope of the War. I know they are aware of that also. God grant us Wisdom in the coming months.

Cultures and people don't change much especially in the Middle East if you'd read history you'd understand that. More importantly, the only way the U.S. defeated Japan and Germany and changed their cultures was to crush them totally, occupy them as a semi-police state for at least 10 years and gradually allow for full democratic processes to begin. We are still in those countries and provide them military protection, almost 70 years after the war. As for calling me Mr. anti-war protestor, you're barking up the wrong tree, mr. jump-to-conclusions. I have personally attended the funeral of a long-time friends' loss of his son, a Marine First Lieutenant, who was called in action in Anbar province in September, 2004. He is buried in Arlington National Cemetery where upon visits to Washington D.C. on business I visit and pay my respects. My family has been in the American military since WWI, and our family tree shows members arriving in 1860 and probably served in the Civil War as well. I also personally know Iraqis living in the U.S. since 1973; they have mixed thoughts as to whether the freedom won by U.S. military forces will survive in the event there is a pullout. They definitely think a democratic system similar to those in the West won't survive because of rival faction hatred continually fueled by outside monies and agitation. They suspect it will turn back to a dictatorship by which ever tribe exhibits the greatest strength will govern. As for the democratic underground, my family has been Republican since FDR became president. I never said the U.S. lost; but they haven't really won yet either; only time will tell. The loss of American lives under any circumstances is not great fun. Next time, choose your words carefully and think before you write.
