California's top gambling official told 300 Southeast Asians Saturday that services for problem gamblers in their native languages could be in place by September.
The State Office of Problem Gambling will be training counselors who can provide treatment in Hmong, Mien, Lao and other Asian languages, said acting director Terri Sue Canale.
Canale participated in a town hall meeting at Luther Burbank High School sponsored by Sacramento Area Congregations Together and the Hmong and Iu Mien Leadership Network.

The guy who has the addiction to financial risks with unrealistic expectations is her boss, the Governor. May some outreach in his native German language would help.
It’s a life style with SEA’s.....
I work with enough of them to know that help will not help....
More wasted $$$
They need to help politicians addicted to spending other peoples money!
“They need to help politicians addicted to spending other peoples money!”
Speaking of, wonder when Obama will give California a ‘bailout’ stimulus, hopey/changey ‘bow to me’ package?
so...literally tens of thousands of $$’s likely to be spent for 300 people who can’t put a limit on their gambling?
Wow, and I thought MN did some stupid stuff...no wonder CA is toast...
I think the Indian Casino’s pay for the rehab. They and the Rats want to hang on to the income and the politicol contributions. They really don’t care about the impact on society.
The teachers, the casinos and the trial lawyers are the biggest supporters of the Rats.
The state allows casinos on Indian land. The state runs its own lottery.
The state funds a “State Office of Problem Gambling.”
The state is run by idiots. We get the government we deserve.
I’ve seen the same thing where I work.
I’ve said it before, I will say it again. If it was not for legalized gambling in all its forms, the poor in the USA would not be paying their fair share for the cost of government.
