Why black folks loved the first 100 days (barf)
The San Diego Union-Tribune ^ | 2:00 a.m. May 3, 2009 | Melissa Harris-Lacewell

On April 27, The New York Times reported that the percentage of black Americans who believe race relations in America are generally good has doubled since July. This statistic forces me to ask: Why are African-Americans feeling so good about our country in a time of economic crisis and international conflict?

It is not just the fact of a black president. Instead, with everyone analyzing the 100-day mark of Barack Obama's administration, I think the answer lies in understanding this historic moment through a black cultural lens. I believe African-Americans are feeling racially optimistic because they respect how our first brother president is handling his business. Not all black people, of course; there is a group clamoring for “accountability.” But the polls are clear that most black people remain enthusiastic supporters of this president.

In January, Obama kicked things off with the ultimate political party. African-Americans stood with numb fingers and toes on the National Mall to watch a day we never thought would come. Obama had Mary J. Blige singing on the weekend, Aretha in her Sunday-going-to-meeting-hat celebrating on Tuesday morning, and Beyonce serenading on Tuesday night. It was an unrivaled R&B trifecta, challenging even the Essence festival.

But the best part of Jan. 20 was that Barack and Michelle got out of the bulletproof, black Cadillac and walked the streets . . . and no one shot at them. I know we are not allowed to say it, but one reason black people believe that race relations have improved in America is because Barack Obama lived through the primaries, the election, the inauguration and now through 100 days.

Yep - mayb- just maybe - blacks have been painting whites with a brush dripping with hatred. I don't want to burst their bubble, but all whites aren't KKK members - anymore than all blacks are Willy Horton.

What racist bilge. The racist africanhyphenamericans would gladly justify an open race war against white people with the blood of B. Hussein Obama or Michelle Insane.

You can get that on Jerry Springer. A dozen women come in, each demanding a DNA test, which the show has gotten, for exactly one guy ~ the same guy and he's a first cousin to half of them, and "guy in the neighborhood" to the others.

The results come back ~ he's the daddy!

INEXPLICABLE!

One thing you can bet on is that, should Obama be shot, it will be a liberal Dem who does it. Obama has to stay to the far left or else it will be his own who comes after him but the libs will find a way to hang the Pubs for it. Republicans are hoping he lives long enough to hang himself - it is only the Libs and the press who keep bringing up assassination attempts - have no doubt that if the Republicans gain too much good-press and good-will as a result of this President and Dem Congress, it will be the Dems who cook up something like an assassination attempt in order to discredit the right. Obama has more to fear from his own than he does from the right.

She grew up in the Virginia cities of Charlottesville and Chester with a black father, the dean of Afro-American affairs at the University of Virginia; and a white mother, who taught at a community college and worked for nonprofits that helped poor communities. “I’ve never thought of myself as biracial,” Harris-Lacewell says. “I’m black.” But she has white siblings and black siblings (both her parents were previously married), and in the 1970s in the South, the family often was met by harsh and open racism, she says.

Hope the day comes when African Americans refer to themselves as Americans. After all some of them can trace their roots back as much as three hundred years.

“the percentage of black Americans who believe race relations in America are generally good has doubled since July.”

Maybe because racism in America is purely a matter of perception that’s fueled by a political agenda?

Brother? Wow.

And she has lighter skin than me.

I think I'm going to be African-American on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, and Caucasian on Tuesdays and Thursdays; maybe Hispanic on the weekends....

They loved the 1st 100 days because their Prez-ee-dent is a black man. That’s it. Marion Barry is black and could do no wrong. “Chocolate City” dipsh%% in New Orleans is black and can do no wrong.

Blacks have been trained by dems since the “Great Society” that rich white men are the devil and out to use them. A lack of education of any sort, thanks to public schools, solidifies that. “Black History Month”, “BET”, “Jet” magazine etc are black ONLY because blacks are “owed” for the years of heartache the white man has caused them.

“Kwanzaa” was invented in the 60’s to help blacks have their own identity other than the white man’s Christmas and to stop the out of control rioting of the 60’s.

If he wasn’t a hard left Marxist we could have all been proud. Instead, we now have to defend our opposition to his insane policies from a race perspective every single time.
