I believe that is the best statement of what many or most of us believe that I have seen on the web.
But, but, Mitt is a conservative! (Just ask CNN.) /sarc
Does this mean I can stop trying to be nice?
Mormons are socially conservative and pro-family by religious upbringing. Most Blacks are too!
That’s why many Blacks vote for initiatives in California that would ban “gay” marriage.
Many good Blacks voted for Obama because he was Black. Many good Mormons support Romney because he is Mormon.
But Obama is not good for Blacks any more than Romney would be good for Mormons. The policies both men have pursued or that they have signed into law are poison to families, and socially deconstructionist.
A message from the founder of FR
Great pic. The tagline is precious. :^)
Well said and keep in mind that Mormons are generally going to vote for ANY conservative.
I love the flag pin!
Duncan Hunter is done. He's not running for President in 2012 and would be a fool if he tried. Jack Kemp would have better chance of winning.
Multi-ping to the Ann Coulter, Fred Thompson and Atlas Shrugged ping lists.
Ping! Hats off to ya’, Jim!
Well said! and bookmarked for future reference when someone needs to learn what makes one a conservative.
I think they’re the same cockroach.
Not my call, of course.
But I would not miss the smarmiest among them.
Well stated Bump!
Who is a traitor?
Admit it - this is just an old fashioned vanity.
I believe that judges should write laws.
I’m in good company here, right?
As long as it is our Creator! :^)
I agree. You and I do not see eye to eye about what makes someone a conservative, but this is your site. I am a guest at your site. I supported Mitt Romney in the primary and I still think he is a better advocate of conservative principles than many of the people who post here. I think the tone some on FreeRepublic.com have taken when it comes to Mitt Romney is offensive. Yes, I am a guest here but it is a shame guests have been treated so rudely. Some of the rude behavior reflects very poorly on the site. Name calling never seems the most effective way to win a debate.
Unlike those conservatives who wouldn’t vote for a conservative Mormon.
It doesn't take a rocket scientist... or an all knowing, always right thinking, devilish handsome robot to see the truth!
The deal is the electorate is made up of a bi-modal saddle (if you take every idealogy into account and spread them out). It's not a left/right thing.
For the most part you have Republicans and you have Democrats. Never mind the Leftwingtards arguing that Republicans are disappearing ~ they aren't, they're just not talking to the Leftwingtards anymore.
The reason we have mostly Republicans or Democrats is we have single-member districts at the state level. The math forces all candidates to "embrace" something so they do. That's where we get RINOs from ~ where there are too many Democrats, and not enough Republicans to provide something to "embrace" that's consistent with the national Republican party ~ in short, RINOs occur where that other node in the bi-modal saddle is MISSING ~ and unfortunately it's always been MISSING in some places, e.g. New York, Boston and its suburbs, Philadelphia and its suburbs, Pittsburgh, Cleveland, Chicago and so on.
It ain't comin' back in the places where it's always been missing.
Well, anyway, the long and the short of it is to win where there's a bi-modal saddle you have to attract folks from the other node. At the same time there's always a fringe of people who can't quite get their act together and think the math of the single-member district can be defeated, and they're out there. Sometimes they think of themselves as Independents ~ but they're not. They are simply outlyers or fringe people. Fortunately they never constitute as much as 20% of the electorate. Unfortunately the other node, for us the Democrats, have sufficient numbers to beat us even if we get all the fringe people and they get some of ours. Vice Versa is true as well.
So, how do you win over Democrats to vote for Conservative candidates? That's the question to ponder. Winning over the fringe (so-called independents) is not all that hard, but winning over Democrats to vote for Conservatives is the issue.
Undoubtedly charismatic candidates will help. Lots of campaign dollars will help. Most of all we have to show that our non-Democrat candidates CAN lead.
Always remember, though, Democrats are like dogs. Unless you convert them they will return to their vomit. We are at such a time in our history. Someone forgot to tame the new Catholic Democrats and convert them into Real Catholic Republicans. There's a counterpart problem in Mormon territory as well ~ the Mormon Democrat. They've got enough of them around to ruin the chance of a real Conservative to win. Someone has to go after those people and convert them ~ it wasn't just enough to turn 'em into Mormons (SEE: Mormon, Baptist, War in the Intermountain) ~ they had to be brought over all the way.
We also forgot to convert the Coal Country Democrats back into Republicans ~ they're still Conservative enough, but we lost them several decades back. They're worth some work.
Worst of all we lost the North East ~ we gave up the Republican party to the RINOs ~ and there went all the other offices. No RINO ever supports the ticket. That's gotta' change, and that's why I think the RINO brand has to be driven from the Republican party and denied access to Conservative votes.
Palin voted for Romney. That must make her a MITTEN.
Good job Jim.
Think I’ll go and give some money for the Free Republic fund raiser to support you and your web site, and THANKS.
Correction: We went through this with the abortionist, gay rights activist, illegal alien supporting, gun grabbing Rudy Giuliani until someone created another website call WAnkers for Rudy and they all flew the coop, and then slurked back claiming they supported whoever and now pretend like their Rooty love was all for the greater good.
I am not aware of ANY conservative Mormon EVER running for national office, nor am I aware of ANY polling data that suggests that conservatives would be unwilling to vote for a conservative Mormon.
The libs, in and out of the party, keep trying to convince us otherwise.
Amen Amen Amen!!!
I’m 100% in agreement!
FR is not for everyone!
Put it another way.......
RINO's not welcome here.
Personally, my favorite nickname for him is Grahamnesty, if that’s any indication of my dislike for him. Not sure given his past actions if he’s “redeemable” at all. And, that’s no matter how much blood, sweat, and/or tears he put into Clinton’s impeachment... After all, like it or not, Clinton’s impeachment was a “star-maker”(no pun intended) type partisan political action (even if it had merit, and was warranted action). Many politicians will use a “crisis” like an impeachment to get air-time, etc... (Sound familiar? LOL)
We heard all the excuses for not voting for Hunter.
He doesn’t have name recognition. Neither did Palin 3 months prior to the election.
He isn’t “charismatic” enough. And John McCain was?
He isn’t an “attractive” choice. Uh, John McCain?
Representatives can’t win. Not with self fullfilling prophesies.
The man would have driven Zero into the ground in a straight debate. When others were whining about the ringers being sent to the CNN debate to ask questions, Hunter sent a letter to Hillary Clinton daring her to send more. Hunter didn’t beat around the bush when he called Harry Reid a treasonous coward and it left Reid speechless for once. Hunter certainly wouldn’t have run out to spray paint his name across the wildly unpopular bank bailout. Where other republicans live in fear of the media, Hunter walks up the steps and bangs on the door.
He was the true Reaganite candidate and the only one not claiming the mantel.
Huckabee is a social conservative and fiscal leftist. The last thing we need is someone on video as Governor, begging the legislature to raise taxes.
Impressive shilling here, by the way:
Unfortunately, the whole straw man argument that anyone who dislikes Myth Romney is a Huckabee supporter also is a common tactic of the shills and it’s a pretty vapid one, so you lose points with that.
For a minute there, I thought Mitt might have been offering more money to his FR boosters in order to get better ones.
I didnt vote for McCain...I voted for Palin....and I would again...
I Did not see Jeff Flake on a national ticket...
You know, I really want to think that most people here actually have the ability to think beyond the level of a 6 year old. Now, please tell us, when did Palin vote for Romney? Did she reside in Massachusetts when he ran for governor there? Did she vote for him in a Republican presidential primary? Nah, that can't be it either. So you tell us, when did she 'vote for Romney'?
“We are a center-right nation and the right is making a stand.”
I like to believe that we are a center-right nation but as I tell my kids at the end of the game. “I don’t care about who shoulda, woulda, coulda won. Look at the scroreboard.”
Well look at the scoreboard.
I to voted to McCain, but that was because he was running with Palin.
We need a conservative to lead the GOP or to hell with the GOP. I can’t take another McCain.
Very good points.
Repeat a lie often enough...
Well then, pissant must have three names, because I agree with library user! LOL!
The biggest regret I have is that I did not write in Duncan Hunter’s name!
I would be unwilling to vote for a Mormon, sorry. Mitt is a Ken doll. The Mormons will not be deemed OK til they get the polygamy thing ironed out.
Hey, I voted for Reagan TWICE.
Then what happened?
Hopefully, Romney is a Latter Day Politician. Great oratory, JR...
I’m going to make a guess that pissant also agrees with you on this.
That was my plan too. Then Sarah came along and I voted for her.
