When a person makes up stories like I own a gun, lifetime hunter, watched dad march with MLK, was just out of school when church ended racism in 1978, and so on it shows an incredible lack of character,

- - - - - - - - - -
Mormons like Romney call this “Lying for the Lord”. To be fair not all mormons do this, but Romney appears to.

You can say or do anything as long as it furthers your cause or the cause of “the Church”. It is one of the reasons I do not trust him. Here is another:

One of the temple oaths (the Law of Consecration):

“You and each of you covenant and promise before God, angels, and these witnesses at this altar, that you do accept the law of consecration as contained in this, the book of Doctrine and Covenants [he displays the book], in that you do consecrate yourselves, your time, talents, and everything with which the Lord has blessed you, or with which he may bless you, to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, for the building up of the kingdom of God on the earth and for the establishment of Zion.”

Mitt Romney's compulsion to lie is just too powerful for him to control.

"Suddenly, a heavyset man wearing a bright-orange cap entered the room. “Mr. Romney,” he called out. “Eric Orff—I’m a hunter.”

It was a potentially awkward moment. Earlier this year, Romney claimed that he’d “been a hunter pretty much all my life.” A few days later, he said in a statement, “I’ve hunted small game numerous times.” Four days after that, Romney told W. Gardner Selby, of the Austin American-Statesman, “Any description of my being a hunter is an overstatement of capability.”

Still, he couldn’t resist. “You’re a hunter?” he said to Orff. “Well, same here. Good to see ya.”

Perfect example of Mormon superiority.

You attack a good Christian woman and accuse her of not living up to LDS standards and then of hating “better” people like you.

You do not need to be a better person to get to heaven, you need to TRUST a better person (Christ) to get you there.

BS. Propaganda and lies. The taxpayers will pay for the jaws of life regardless and just because a person does not have insurance doesn’t mean the taxpayers pay for it.

When you buy a house and don’t have the cash to pay outright, do the taxpayers pay for it? (well, pre-Obama)

When you want to buy a car and need a payment plan, is your car paid for by taxpayers?

Get the idea? Good, because that’s how it works. Having been there myself and paid the bill, I know first hand.

Now, you’ll say ‘But what if they don’t pay or can’t pay...’

Then, a deal will be reached. If a deal is reached and defaulted, the debt will be sold to a collection agency, same as credit card debt.

YOU HAVE NO RIGHT TO FORCE ME TO PAY FOR INSURANCE THAT I DON’T WANT OR NEED. PERIOD. It isn’t ‘fairness’ and it sure as hell isn’t freedom.

It’s going to get ugly. These RINOS hate conservatism. Ask them to define it, and they will SPIN it. They cannot articulate it, doing so would expose their true nature. This stupid idiotic tour is a way for them to try and dupe the american people into thinking that the Republican party needs to move to the center. Instead of trying to weed out the RINOs and force them out, why not have all the real conservatives form a new party which would strongly distinguisg them from the RINO Moderates. It would be supported by grass root conservatives. Today Rush mentioned about a gold mine of true conservative people in the USA that could cause another landslide victory like Reagan if they were represented properly.

We already have 49 "third parties" and a number of them are conservative, they clearly don't work very well, I can't even name them them and I bet you can't either.

If you think the answer to winning an epic "winner take all" battle between two giant parties is to break one of them up into two or more smaller parties, then how about getting the Democrat party to go first.

I am in line with you. I want a conservative like Jindal, like Palin, conservatives who support life, support our country, support our borders, support smaller government over bigger government which ultimately should lead to lower taxes and less government in my life on a day to day basis.

My comment originally was meant to provoke some discussion about the “hatred” and venom and those are strong words, for Mitt Romney. I never said I supported him, I wanted to know why so many Freepers have such feelings for somebody who is more like them than 90% of Congress. I don’t agree with all his positions but he should be allowed to be part of the party and we should continue to fight him on life, security and taxes including healthcare if he isn’t providing a conservative position. Disagree with him and be vocal about it. But, Please don’t be so hateful as nobody is deserving of that.

I have similar views to you on President George HW Bush. Jack Kemp might have been a better choice as successor to Ronald Reagan. We will never know. John McCain was selected by liberals from out of state in the primaries in NH and Iowa because they were open. I supported him after he became the candidate opposing 0bama. In the last days, his message didn’t come through clearly and there was voter fraud that gave 0bama as much as 3 million votes (could be much more with Acorn being extremely well financed). The GOP needs to close its primaries and let the process work properly with citizens of the state and the party voting. Nobody else.

Remember that the GOP got just uncer 50% of the general vote in the election of 2008. In 2004, the GOP won the White House, the Senate, and a majority in Congress. We as conservatives have allowed the media to define our ultimate demise that is not going to happen. We need to define our positions, not as the party of “NO” but how we are different from the liberals currently driving the bus off the cliff. Leaders in the Senate, in Congress and among State legislators need to be vocal and clearly oppose the lies 0bama continues to spout.

More Americans identify themselves as conservatives than liberal. Lets not forget that and keep fighting the good fight without tearing people apart. As much as I hate what 0bama is doing to our country, I don’t hate the man. He is virtually 100% wrong on everything he is doing but I don’t hate him. Lets not be hateful in our disagreement with anybody, but thoughtful and vocal with the truth.

“We as conservatives have allowed the media to define our ultimate demise that is not going to happen.”

We still need to force the R party back into our (Conservatives) direction - because, as you point out, we really do have electoral might. People can argue all they want about the Conservative demise or the liberal ascendency (which is utterly fraudulent and constructed out of lied and media delusions - but, still, has a little bit of steam as much as lies and delusions go).

To force the R party back into our direction though, we *must* have candidates at the ready to oppose RINOs and lefties in any particular race. We need to cultivate a culture of Conservative voices in all the states. We need to work both inside and outside (AIP, Independents) the R party to force them to understand that we are the electoral power for them - and nothing else.

I agree with you about hate. I will say dear leader's and Emmanuel's tactics are completely cynical, born out of cynical Saul Alinsky chaos agitation mindset, speaking publicly about caring for the poor, whilst living opulent caviar style Soviet thuggery leadership lives - he and his wife and living off the backs of both the poor and the gainfully employed everywhere, never holding legitimate producing or value creating jobs. There is plenty to despise about Marxist agitators - their phony, false lying. Yeah, I don't hate him I suppose, like I hate murderers like Stalin...mmm hmmm...But he and his ilk have a cynical self and socialist interest in mind for our hard work and sweat equity - and there's a lot to hate about that.

Okay, good.

Disagree with him and be vocal about it. But, Please don’t be so hateful as nobody is deserving of that.

Whether you, I, or others like it, Mitt is having to deal with the situation we find ourself in these days.  We just went through an election (Nov., 2008) where a Democrat(R) was able to defeat all comers, to block a true Conservative from becoming the standard bearer of the Republican party.  Then the jackass who did become the standard bearer was so bad, and so shameless, that he brought on board someone to help him win, he could control after January 20th, 2009.  Many here are very bitter about that, about the Republican leadership in general, and the prospect of EVER seeing a repeat.  If you think it's bad now, wait until 2011.  I pity any moderates that scheme to become our standard bearer in 2012.  They're going to get their asses handed to them in short order, and I'll be here to make sure that takes place.

The GOP needs to close its primaries and let the process work properly with citizens of the state and the party voting. Nobody else.

While I read this paragraph with some agreement, there is one point that stands out to me, that I must address.

I don't believe it's accurate at all to state that McCain's message didn't come through.  John's message was crystal clear to everyone.  The problem for John was that there was a guy much more to the liberal's liking, so why would they ever go for a guy that would only give them 70% of what they wanted?  The 'moderates' (read that consummate leftists) in our party have never understood one simple fundamental law of nature.

If you can have 100% of what you want for the same price as 70% of what you want, why would you opt for the 70% model?

We have these people in our party that spend their adult lives making choices like a Democrat.  Then they decide it's time to run for President, so they package themselves as middle of the road moderates.  Truth be told, the Republican party is considerably left of center these days, and yet these candidates try to make it look like they are moderates, somewhere between the radical right and the radical left.  Instead they are left of the party as a whole, and the party as a whole (leadership wise), is already left of center.  This makes them farther left than that, someone out in limbo land way left of center.  And while they still claim to be moderate, they none the less bring on board someone like Palin because down deep they know damn well how far left they are.  But don't you as a voter dare come up with that same conclusion.  That would make you a hater.

I literally hate what these folks stand for, and the jellyfish machinations they go through to try to pull the wool over the yes of the Republican rank and file.

The Republican won both branches of Congress in 1994.  They held it until 2006.  During that time we had a Democrat and then a Republican president.  And the 'moderates' controlled the Republican party from 2000 to 2006, so very little progress was made.  And that's basically the model for how it goes for those who want to return to our founding principles.

Both parties have served to defeat that return.  I waited my whole life to see Republicans gain power.  And then I watched as the Republican leadership refused to enforce our immigration laws.  It refused to build back up our military to the two theater level of preparedness.  It refused to get the mortgage regulations back in check. It refused to clean up our Education in any meaningful way.  It refused to take real measures to protect our gun rights.  It refused to make it very difficult to destroy the life within pregnant women.  The list is very long, the one that reveals how many things we failed to take action on, when we had the chance.

Moderates had their way.  So yes, if you think some of us are bitter about 'moderates', and what they have done to our party, well..., you're right.  We are.

I don't necessarily hate Obama.  I do hate what he is doing.  When it comes to Bill and Hillary Clinton, I am more disgusted than anything else.  Our moderates refused to remove him from office for valid reasons.  In fact the House that brought articles of impeachment, chose ones that were sure to fail.  He had committed obvious criminal acts.  Those were conveniently left out of the articles.  And then the 'moderates' in the Senate refused to hold a trial.

The problem with your admonition about us being vocal with the truth is that when we are, it is depicted as hate.  And it disappoints me greatly to see folks on our own side agree that it is.

The thing I've noticed is that the people who spend all day hijacking threads and calling everyone "RINOs" are the founders and members of Third Parties who have vested interests in seeing the GOP crash and burn. The problem is they never have the courage to admit who they are. They also never seem to have better candidates to support or better platforms. At least, they don't mention any.

I am really surprised Jim has allowed these people to take over the site and run crazy. The Birchers are even back.

In my opinion it should be obvious that someone that has devoted their life to creating by far the best conservative news forum on the Internet would have a pretty good grasp of what Conservative is, and means.

Really? So essentially we wait to see who JimRob decrees sufficiently conservative, and then all get in line?

Let us suppose JimRob had decreed Romney conservative (as had, for example, National Review), would you similarly defer to JimRob's authority and praise Romney?

What about other candidates as we move forward, whose conservative bona fides are in doubt--- Cantor, Pence, Jindal, Sanford? Who decides whether these be true conservatives? Do we individually make our own assessment, or do we suspend judgment until our leader promulgates another decree?

Bush was a lame duck who abandoned conservatives the last few years.

There is nothing that says the Repubs can’t go the way of the Whigs. And if they keep up their leftist leanings they just may.

There is no law that says it has to specifically be the Democrat and Republican parties.

Now, obviously, my first choice BY FAR would to be go with name recognition and take back the GOP. But the GOP is leaving me.

Oh, straw man is it? Keep clinging then, to your Appeal to Authority fallacy.

What a load of tripe and typical dead-ender speak. Anymore tired cliches and ridiculous generalizations you’d care to rescue from the hack files?

You and I are very much on the same page. I appreciate your reasoned, thoughtful discussions of these issues. There needs to be more of that on FreeRepublic.

I don’t like that the GOP has moved left and that when in power moderates back down from principles. Seems like the squeaky wheel gets the grease and libs are always whining about something even when they are in power.

I am conservative and pray that the GOP’s leaders like Eric Cantor, Sarah Palin, Mark Sandford and a small group of others who will follow conservative principles and not back down from libs and moderates from the GOP will take this party forward in 2010 and 2012 elections. The country is thirsting for conservative values and principles.

Let’s hope and pray this it true! As a way to act on these prayers, let’s support conservatives everywhere we can, and if GOP RINOs refuse to hear our valid concerns, let us RUN AGAINST THEM as independents and in other parties - like the AIP. We can and must use a Both/And strategy of pressing inside and outside the R party to drive the Conservative cause forward. Go Tea Parties! Go protestors in front of the socialists’ offices (Chris Dodd protest), et al.
