The so called party leaders haven't seen anything coming in the past 8 years, why should they start now?
Yep. It’s is a shame that the Republican party (the only reasonable alternative at the moment) is so blind! Oh well, if they do not realize that conservatives have left them in droves (and surely not because they are too far to the left on all issues) then they deserve the wilderness that is coming. If they think that Conservatives will continue to vote for them - they are brain-dead and they (GOP) just do not matter anymore.
I am hoping for either a vibrant third party initiative or at least a Constitutional Convention to change things...
Not helpful Mitt. Not for you, not for her, not for us.
And at what point does somebody tell McCain that the loser is usually not included in on the meetings about how to win the next time. John F’ing Kerry mistakenly thought people cared about him too but that comes with having been in the Senate for.....forevere. The lack of perspective appears to be terminal and permanent. Or permanent and terminal - which ever one sounds worse.
I would like to see a request from each of the States for a Constitutional Convention. I think Congress and both parties would wet themselves.
We The People have to take control and Congress works for us.
He and his Republican ilk are so ensconced in their comfortable, and lucrative, positions that they will do ANYTHING, including destroying our Constitution and thus or Country,to maintain the power that makes them feel so good.
They will NEVER do what is good for our Country, only what is good for themselves in relation to power (with power you do not need money and power is an aphrodisiac greater than money to these types of people).
No one else.
You didn’t get the word on here that Mitt Romney is ‘really’ a Conservative?
Seriously, the people on here that defend Romney have no idea about the man — he is not conservative but morphs into whatever he thinks can get him the nomination. He seems to have no core principles that are unwavering. Opportunist comes to mind.
Mercy! You and me both! I really do believe that it just might get rid of this Federalist Power play that has seemed to grow so far beyond the original framers intentions.
I think the key is to eliminate the money that goes to the Federal government. That may be the only method of truly eliminating their growing power play... I don’t have any faith in the Supreme Courts to limit that either. Actually, some of their improper decisions need to be overturned via the Constitution.
Yep. Unfortunately, too many Conservatives seem to think that voting for a Republican is doing the right thing. Well, we say that it did not work this election cycle and it will NOT in the future. Romney is a political asshat (I know, but can’t think of a better word), another one of the GOP supposedly leaders that thinks that he can win over Conservatives via his ever-changing speeches. He is just another false leader that does not have any understanding of Conservatives...
They just don’t get it...
Personally, I think he does this deliberately so that he can't be pinned down. His supporters believe in his motivations and work tirelessly to explain what he really meant.
My question is this: don't we need a candidate who can communicate with knifeblade clarity? Even if Romney's motivations were pure, how can we support a candidate whose communication style is so consistently open to misinterpretation? IMO, that alone disqualifies him.
Both he and Romney must be.
I would be happy to tell them that I did not vote for either of them in the republican primary in my state.
In the presidential election I did not vote for McCain, I voted for Palin!
McCain or Romney 2012?
The Constitution is just fine the way it is. No one, and I mean no one, in politics today should be permitted to get their grubby mitts on it. We don't need to change the Constitution -- we need to return to what is there in plain print.
the issue on the most beautiful people?
Romney “the Ken Doll” should talk.
Peggy Noonan Takes Leave of Her Senses
In an article written for the WSJ, Peggy Noonan pens an apology piece for Barack Obama and his administration, the same outfit that thinks flying Air Force One low over Manhattan and buzzing the Statue of Liberty is a really great idea.
At a time when Americans by the millions have lost their jobs and their homes, individuals within this administration dont have a problem with spending $328,000 of the taxpayers money on a stupid stunt that could have been photo shopped.
Under these circumstances, one of the hardest jobs in the world must be the task of the White House Press Secretary, who is charged with putting a happy face on whatever the embarrassment du jour happens to be.
Now, seeming determined to come to the rescue of the Gang Who Cant Shoot Straight is someone whose work I used to admire greatly, Peggy Noonan.
I have quoted just a few sentences of her piece, which reads like it might have been written by an Obama speechwriter.
With the news of the Republican In Name Only, Arlen Specter, making official what we have long known, namely that he is an opportunist and a lifelong Democrat at heart, it is especially disappointing to hear Ms. Noonan mouthing the liberal party line, to wit, a great party needs to welcome into the fold everyone who wants to join it, regardless of what their philosophy of government is. No, Peggy, that is not what makes a party great.
What defines greatness in a political party is building a platform that will keep America safe and prosperous, protect life from cradle to eternity, expand democracy and keep this country what it has always been, the hope of humanity.
Quoting Ms. Noonan: A great party allows everyone in, and allows prospective members to self-define. If they say theyre Republicans, they should be welcomed and helped to find a place where they fit. [Editors Note: We have just seen this. Arlen Specter has just found a place where he fits: the Democrat Party] A great party has a lot of such places. A great party is expansive. A great party has give.
I'm with you.
The GOP "leaders" have NO IDEA that they are in a fight with a coalition of the Democrat Party + The Mainstream Press.
Where do these dummies keep coming from???????
Peggy, if you want a great party, go buy some balloons. It's a great country that we want.
"What defines greatness in a political party is building a platform that will keep America safe and prosperous, protect life from cradle to eternity, expand democracy and keep this country what it has always been, the hope of humanity."
So, ......that would be George W Bush?
Couldn’t agree more with what you had to say — all of it! :)
Getting really frustrated at this group that McCain/Romney formed — doesn’t look conservative to me. I don’t want anyone that ran in the 2008 primary on the GOP to run again for President. I don’t think that is too much to ask. They couldn’t beat McCain in the primary so I say NO THANKS to any of them running again!
Exactly! We definitely need a candidate that when they speak we know exactly what they are saying.
I agree with you that he does it deliberately so he can have someone parse what he said. I am tired of parsing by any Republican. If they cannot speak with clarity and we have to be told what they meant, then they need to sit down and shut-up.
Really tired of the people that want to be our spokesman. I want a Jim Inhofe or Tom Coburn type that is not afraid to tell it like it is. At least you know where they stand on an issue and don’t put a finger in the wind to see what to say.
