California collected just $7.34 billion in personal income tax payments in April, putting further stress on the state's budget.
The state controller's office said the collections in April were down from $13 billion a year earlier. About a quarter of all income tax revenue is collected in April, the agency said.
In addition, the dismal April means the state is falling behind the revenue forecasts incorporated into the budget deal adopted by the Legislature in February.

Well gee, it must be WE THE PEOPLE’S fault. It can’t be how the state is run!
California is so far into the red, they had to create a new spectrum for it. It’s called “California RED”

The parasitic CA legislature and their State Worker Union enablers will view this as another reason to raise taxes.

Time for some heavily armed Democrat extraction squads to head to other states and bring back all of those scofflaw ex-residents who thought they could defeat the Glorious Revolution by moving away. :)

Because people and businesses are fleeing the excessive taxes and anti-business environment. Of course the classic Democratic response to this is to raise taxes some more.

LOL! I hate some of those old dopey hippie songs from the 1960s. A lot of the talentless hippie dope smoking “music” crap came out of Cal.
This song sure fits though. I think the public workers unions need raises and more endless benefits for illegals. Sadly it will get worse and worse and people will still vote for liberals.

CA put a hold on sending out refund checks didn’t they? It’s only fair for those that owe, to file as many extensions as they can legally file.

Sadly it will get worse and worse and people will still vote for liberals.Hard to see any other outcome when they drive all the conservatives out of the state. The people that are left don't vote based on logic, so they don't reason out the cause and effect of continuing to vote in liberals.

The most productive are bailing, SoCal will be left with illegals & bangers.this is so true. In NorCal we're seeing a great exodus as well. Personally we need to hang on for at least another year up to two years before we bail. Heading south(east). Looking for the best southern states to settle in for early retirement. Tax wise and other wise. Texas is not an option. No offense to you wonderful Texans, but i just don't like the landscape. Have travelled there many times and it's fine, but to settle down we're looking for a place with more trees, lakes, mountains. Something like TN but preferably where it doesn't snow.

This is just the beginning. The State of Ohio just announced that they expect a $1 billion deficit due to less tax collected than expected. This is before the Chrysler plants that shut down today, presumably only fora two week time period.
Starting later this year you will start to see large and small suburban cities going bankrupt. At first it will be suburbs that cater to working and middle class home owners, then it will be the major cities. We are in for a long four years and a longer clean up of the One's bad policies.

My 3 inlaws who live in SanDiego got IOUs instead of a check for their state income tax refund. They are livid. They need to jack up their exemptions to reduce the amount of state income tax taken out, both to make sure that the state owes them nothing in April 2010 and to reclaim the amount from that IOU.

I don’t live in San Diego however I do live in CA. We got our refund a few weeks ago in a real check along with an apology for it being delayed. How long ago did they get it?

My 3 inlaws who live in SanDiego got IOUs instead of a check for their state income tax refund. They are livid. An alternative strategy is to declare your "refund" as a prepayment of taxes for this year. Don't send the state any money until your obligation matches their obligation.

Oh and BTW, they raised the state income tax.

Bad news, 0's tax cut isn't, he just lessened what was being taken out each month. If you normally got a refund it will be less next april 15. If you normally pay in, you'll likely be paying in more next april 15.
Sorry.
