US Rep. Barney Frank (D-Mass.) is probably among the most despised members of Congress these days. As Chairman of the House Banking Committee, most people have seen his arrogant, condescending manner in various television interviews over the past several months. Well, it turns out that not everyone is upset with ol' Barney. Boston-based Fidelity Investments wants to make sure that Frank wins his next election. So a few weeks ago they "reached out" to him and threw a fund-raiser for Frank at their downtown Boston offices, netting $28,000 for Frank's campaign fund, which was reported in the Boston Herald last week.

best thing to do is to bombard the company HR group that you think it’s a lousy company with lousy investments.

There must be consequences of the bad actions these companies take.

That was my first thought too! I should be getting paperwork to roll over what’s left of a 401K. New owner of where I work uses Fidelity. I have very little there. I’ll be looking for another home for these funds.

Does everyone in Fidelity still get year-long passes
to the Barney Congressional Brothel as well as the
NY Emperor’s club?

what else do you expect them to do?

The $28K could have hired a couple of “green Mile” type bros to mishandle ol barney til assuming room temp, would be a good start.

I just sent the following email to them as a concerned customer:

I am very disappointed to learn that Fidelity has taken the initiative to support congressmen that is clearly a major part of the financial problem we are having. I am so upset that I am considering severing all my accounts with Fidelity. I moved a considerable amount of our assets to your company and bought a large number of your funds. Raising money for the Barney Frank reelection campaign is not in the best interest of the Fidelity Investment Co. I would like to believe that this was an error in your usual good sound research and evaluation. I have been very satisfied with your services to date but this has shaken my confidence in your thinking. Please do not send me a form response telling me how Barney Frank is an asset to our well being. I do however, expect a reasonable reply.

I know Fidelity had thousands of layoffs earlier this year.
Did they take any tarp money?

So $28m for a despicable, moral degenerate and nothing for the Boy Scouts.

I think you just rang the bell at Fidelity. They're not right.

Guys, I wouldn't get too uptight over this.

This is simple @ss-kissing under the current economic nightmare.

Prior to this one fundraiser, ALL DONATIONS FROM ANY OF FIDELITY'S EMPLOYEES came to only $3,750.

My educated guess is that unless you have more than $5 million at Fidelity, they don’t are if you leave.

Correcting typo: that “care” not “are” :)-

My educated guess is that unless you have more than $5 million at Fidelity, they don’t care if you leave.

Everyone who has a Fidelity account should leave Fidelity. They are corrupt and dishonest if they back him.

http://www.interactivebrokers.com/ibg/main.php

Look at Interactive Brokers. Among the lowest trade costs around and margin rates that are insanely low like 1.6%. Much lower than other firms though I personally would avoid margin. The stock trades are around $1.00 for 100 shares.

They are in Greenwich, CT and are very well managed and capitalkized plus do global transactions. So if you wanted to buy stock in Germany on the Frankfurt exchange, they can do it.

TD Ameritrade is another idea or Tradestation.
