Carl Edwards will make his sixth NASCAR Sprint Cup Series start at Darlington Raceway in this weekend’s Southern 500. In five starts at the 1.366-mile track, Edwards has two top-five and four top-10 finishes. He scored his best finish at Darlington, second place last year. After a disappointing 26th-place finish at Richmond, Edwards dropped to ninth place in NASCAR Sprint Cup Series point standings. He trails leader Jeff Gordon by 237 points.

...• Joey Logano will meet the “Lady in Black” for the first time this weekend when he makes his NASCAR Sprint Cup debut at the 1.336-mile track. Logano did get an introduction to her by NASCAR legend Cale Yarborough last month. Yarborough drove the rookie driver around the track in a two-seater while giving him pointers on how to tame Darlington Raceway. Logano will also compete in the NASCAR Nationwide race Friday night before climbing behind the wheel of The Home Depot Toyota on Saturday.
