From the Article: "Our friends at The Patriot Depot just received a call from Rosemarie in Ball, Louisiana alerting Patriot Depot that her brother-in-law was stopped by small town Louisiana police and detained by the roadside for half an hour. A background check was conducted to determine whether he was a member of an "extremist" group. Why? Her brother-in-law (name not disclosed for privacy) had purchased and displayed a conservative "Don't Tread on Me" bumper sticker on his car.
The bumper sticker is based on the famous flag designed by American Revolution era general and statesman Christopher Gadsden. The yellow flag featured a coiled diamondback rattlesnake ready to strike, with the slogan "Don't Tread on Me!" underneath it. ..."

When something like this happens, I can't help but be concerned about mindless response to the historical authority of the federal government by the politically unaware LOEs and departments out there.
It's possible that someone will be hurt as a result of the DHS malfeasance (it may well be their intent).
I encourage every one to contact their elected representatives as well as state and local law enforcement entities to draw their attention to this abuse of authority and hopefully preclude any "unfortunate events".
hey
As an aside, I have seen more Obama bumper stickers in the past couple of days than I had during the election. I’m not sure if it is a smokescreen for the DHS types, or the rats are finally coming out of the closet.
Profiling
Ah yes from the same State that brought you Katrina Gun Confiscations
Maybe cars that are so rattle trap that they only can come out in mid-spring.
wow, here it comes people...
Good Grief! I have a ship patch or two and a 30 year old sweat shirt with that written on it. “United States Ship ASMERICA CV-66 “Don’t Tread On Me.” It was our ships motto when I was onboard. Even the U.S. Navy has used the slogan.
This is a right-to work state, so I doubt it has anything to do with union solidarity as carmaker co-owners.
It strikes me that a real domestic terrorist would put an Obama sticker on the vehicle, just to keep from getting pulled over.
Then they could proceed to plan whatever, and go where they wanted, hauling most anything, all without fear of being shaken down and searched...
(LOL! Let the DHS chew on that idea...)
iggorant red nex
Looks like Ball is going to get rolled.

Wow! And to think I once had a bumper sticker that read...”Dial 911, make a cop come” Thank goodness I got rid of it.
Hardly. Here in Illinois while Obama stickers are on the usual imports like Hondas, Toyotas and Volvos, they also appear on Lexus, BMW, Range Rover and Jaguar brands as well as Jeeps and base 2WD Ford Ranger, Chevy Colorado and Toyota Tacoma pickups. Pretty sickening, especially when they also have that stupid “Endless War” sticker.
Well, guess I have to order a Gadsen flag sticker or “Peace Through Superior Firepower” sticker or better yet, the “Molon Labe” one (Greek for ‘Come and take them’ in ref. to King Leonidas’ response to the demand by Persian forces at the battle of Thermopylae). The LEOs should get a point for knowing something so esoteric.
LOL,,,They are Sooooooo Skroooooed!!!
I bet this guy talked to the Feds,,,
This has been comin’ on for months from what I’ve gathered.
Moon Griffon(radio) and the Dead Pelican.com(web news)
have been on the “Ball” for a while now...;0)
I have a yellow “Don’t Tread on Me” oval sticker on the rear window of my car (a nice car, and I have a couple of other stickers, too, like American flag). Here in L.A., I’m not sure many even know what Gadsden flag means much less that someone would pull me over for it.
There were a few big Gadsden flags at the local tea party on 4/15, but otherwise I don’t see Gadsden in any form. Guy at flag store asked me what the flag meant because he had sold several in a couple of days which was highly unusual. I tried to explain but he didn’t get it.....
Should I retain Legal Representation just in case?
I should note that the sticker is right next to my Stag Arms sticker and my Peace Through Superior Firepower sticker.
No Right Wing Extremist here, just a Patriotic Natural Born United States Citizen. (And I have the Birth Certificate to prove it).

Assuming that the story is as stated, and there isn’t something the brother-in-law isn’t talking about, or he is “known” in those parts as a troublemaker already, perhaps, I wonder how long it will be before they come after those of us who sell merchandise of that sort — be it in a store, or online for instance — just to be sure, of course.
As you pointed out, although to be sure there are some LEOs out there crooked as heck, there are a great many more of them who are smart, respectful of our country and our laws, and seeks to do the best job they possibly can, and really are there to “serve” and “Protect” as best as they can possibly be expected to... Same goes for the members of our military, too!
God bless the righteous.
I caution everyone to take notice something Rush Limbaugh broadly hinted at during his opening monologue on Wednesday. One cannot help but conclude that the administration may, indeed, be deliberately trying to provoke premature direct action.
It is important to remember that the Regime would prefer to choose their ground, and not allow anyone else to choose the ground for them.
You battle-weary know precisely what I mean.
Do not be easily provoked.
Understand the Regime is clearly more frightened of Principled Conservatives than we should ever allow ourselves to be of them.
Anger serves their purposes, and it is imparative we not allow them to provoke "a Waco every week," or any excuse to militarize our returning veterans on the pretext of a Summer of Rage designed to silent descent.
For whatever reason, there is definitely something strange afoot, but our strongest weapon is actual, good old American self-confidence.
Confidence in our being in the right, confidence in our God, confidence in the abiding traditions of our nation and each other.
Their greatest weapon is the use of "ceaseless hustling," designed to keep anxiety at a high level. Therefore, laugh at them, and remember you are not alone.
Our God is mighty, to the bringing down of strongholds, and it may well be He has raised up this poppinjay only to destroy him forever.
Piss on these high and mighty presumptuous weaklings. It's going to take a whole lot more than this neverending aggitation to provoke me to act in any manner other than deliberately, confidently and with the greatest numbers.
God save the Republic.
This is nothing new in Louisiana.
New Llano and Leesville police departments was well known for pulling over people with Ft. Polk sticker’s on their cars especially IF said driver was a certain skin color other than white, and/or had out of state tags on their cars.
Yea I know. This is insane.
I used to have a Chevy with the whole rear of it filled with stickers Like "Fear the government that fears your guns". That was while Clinton was POTUS. Never had a hassle where I live. But the nations law enforcement as a whole has turned many more shades of liberal since then.
Pretty soon, it’s going to be a felony to hurt someone’s feelings. Look, we need to lose some liberty to make sure we’re free...isn’t that the message of il Duce Barack?
that was the mayor (Nagin), not the state (Blanco)\\same state has since passed a law banning such actions in the future
Aren’t there ANY federal prosecutors who believe in asserting criminal charges for violation of conservatives’ civil rights under color of law?! If this was a “screwing goats is good” or some other libtard bumper sticker, there would be prosecutors lined up from here to the ends of the earth trying to make a case. But they won’t stand up to such a blatant violation of someone’s First Amendment right to assert a conservative thought. Seriously, what gives?
PS I know that by asserting that conservatives have Constitutional rights, I am now a potential terrorist according to Napalitona. Actually, just posting here qualifies me for that. I no longer care.

When the next Republican takes office, any Obama, Kerry, No Blood for Oil, Bush Lies, etc. will be called Leftist extremists and their tofu and welfare checks will be taken.
Before we get too excited about this, I’d like something better than third hand information. A patrol car video would do nicely.
I have “Don’t Tread On Me” flag as my screen saver. Is there any way “the authorities” can know it?
The time is now. Everytime our rights our being violated, we must sue!!! It is not legal to be pulled over without cause. A bumper sticker is freedom of speech.
Just wait until someone has an anti-gay bumper sticker or something like that. They will be pulled over a charged with a hate crime.
We must sue each time we are violated, discriminated against, etc.
Where are all the so called conservative groups challenging some of the new dumb laws in the supreme court?
ping for later
was she driving through Missouri?
I have to admit though, I was pulled over and a check made back in my 20's just because I was driving a Lincoln Mark IV. The cop admitted that I had done nothing wrong but didn't believe I could have owned the car. He even peeled the safety sticker off the windshield to see if I had moved it from another windshield.
Yep one sided stories usually aren’t the total composite of what makes up the entire espisode. Like you I’d like to hear both sides the stop, etc.
Spot on. Laughter is the best medicine and they CANNOT TOLERATE ridicule. Laugh in their faces. The angrier they get, the more we laugh. We are going to ultimately win this one.
((PING))
I used to get pulled over for driving a crappy vehicle to work for my 3am shift. I don’t know what they were looking for but I guess I was really suspicious.
Well, as soon as you see one of these "smart, respectful" LEOs let me know since every single one I have run into over the years was a fascist bully with a badge.
Well, I can name one off the very top of my head — Sheriff Bill Masters in Colorado (not sure if he’s still serving, last I spoke with him was about 7 years ago). And, I’ve known several others personally during my life — ones I’ve known as friends.
Several I had gotten to know as “regular customers” years ago. You can pretty much tell which people are those with “attitude” and too much testosterone, but then that’s true of the “civilian” regulars I came into contact with as well during my job as a waitress in a restaurant/neighborhood bar... There are good and bad in EVERY group you could place humans into.
I don’t doubt that there are many out there with an attitude, that’s for sure (ran into a few myself over the years). However, I KNOW there are “good cops” out there as well.
I will say the LEOs I’ve gotten to know pretty well, were for the most part “higher-ups” (Sheriffs, Captains, Detectives) and that sort.
I also got to know a great many LEOs, and other various legal and justice support folks back in Colorado, and in my experience they went far out of their way to help myself and my family through a horrendous ordeal (being involved on the “victim” side of a couple crimes will also change some opinions if you’re lucky enough to be served by COMPETENT people within the Law Enforcement and Justice System).
I would just caution thinking that all members of a chosen profession are bad isn’t a good idea, just as I would caution that thinking all members of a chosen profession were good...
Nay, Louisiana officers have started using the Missouri Highway Patrol training guidelines.
North Dakota. Come to think of it, I’m pretty sure one was a genuine Obamite. Part of the trailer pigtail was hanging down from the connector...

“and detained by the roadside for half an hour. A background check was conducted to determine whether he was a member of an “extremist” group.”
Curious stmt that...what sort of background check would produce this information? OK, if he had prior arrest and/or outstanding warrants that might be one. Anything else? I would think most ‘extremists’ have no record and those who do may or may not have one that would peg them as such. Are they now keeping a database of people they BELIEVE to be extremists?
