I saw an interview of a family in SB who were the only ones in their area to emerge unscathed and they had installed 9 sprinklers on their roof and had those on a couple of times keeping their roof from igniting.

Have your folks got some defensible space around their home? Like I said, I can relate and am praying...if you update here (or elsewhere) would you ping me?

I don't know why most folks who live in the hills don't do the same, get out there and water the roof when they know a fire's out there, and have all brush removed 100+ ft. from their homes at all times.

So far so good, but more visitors coming today from the Patterson Ave area due to creeping smoke beyond Cathedral Oaks.

Informative Google map at the bottom of this website here.

Wow, almost half of downtown SB is closed off!

Yep, I saw this too! It seems effective.

Your later post saying half of downtown SB closed off is scary.

.

A hot tub and a pool next to a house that burned during the Jesusita fire is seen in Santa Barbara, California May 7, 2009. A wildfire that has destroyed dozens of multimillion-dollar homes and injured 10 firefighters burned unchecked through the central California foothills at the edge of Santa Barbara for a third day on Thursday.
