Police: Man Shot Driving Away From Fight
Man Shot After Fight On Winston-Salem Street
UPDATED: 3:52 pm EDT April 25, 2009
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Police in Winston-Salem arrested a man on Saturday in connection with a shooting the night before.
**SNIP**
While Golden was attempting to leave the area, Gilmore got a gun and fired several times outside his residence.
One of the rounds entered the vehicle in which Golden was riding. The round then struck Golden on the right side of his back.
He was driven to Forsyth Medical Center with injuries that were not life-threatening.
Gilmore was arrested and charged with assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of a weapon of mass destruction, discharging a firearm into an occupied property and communicating threats.
His bond was set at $200,000.

Gilmore was arrested and offered no resistance, according to police. Items seized at the arrest included a 12-gauge sawed-off shotgun and a .357 revolver.
Saddam must have had one of those - at LEAST!
If “mass destruction” equates to “vaporizing a pumpkin”, then yes I have one ($450 + $5 NFA AOW tax). Huh. Didn’t know I was violating non-proliferation treaties...
Guilty, yer honner!

But 'possession of a weapon of mass destruction'?!? That's surreal.
(Thank you Patriot Act)
So anyone who owns a shotgun or a 357 is in possession of a weapon of mass destruction AND IS BREAKING THE LAW? This is surreal. I own both, although my shotgun is only a 20 gauge. Perhaps only a weapon of minor destruction? Personally I think my 30 ought 6 would cause more destruction than either of the other two.
Interesting. I know that in many states WMD = pipe bomb or such.

possession of a weapon of mass destruction,
We're loosing the language here NOW shotguns are WMD's?????????
It's like DC and their wide open and vague definition of an Assault Weapon
[Everyone, please accept my apologies for using that idiotic 'AW' phrase]
Obviously paid by the word.
I had never heard the term “rat hole wound” until I read about what a shotgun does to a person close up, where the shot doesn’t have a chance to spread (think about it). I’d say there is ALMOST a case to be made that a shotgun is a weapon of mass destruction, depending on how you define mass destruction.
It's like DC and their wide open and vague definition of an Assault WeaponIts not only DC, or any infamous gun grabbing state, like mine, IL. That bogus 'definition' is also the Official Definition and Description of an 'assault weapon' by the BATF(1).
Selective Fire (full auto) now has zero to do with it. If its a Black 'scary looking' rifle (AR15), its one. If its a 'shotgun with a pistol grip'(2) its one. With a magazine over ten rounds, its one. If it has any Military feature, or 'possible use' its one.
The real laugher is that the 9mm Hi-Point Carbine (which I own) with the std 10 round factory mag is even categorized as an 'assault weapon'. All because (IMO) the a-holes at Columbine had one, though (iirc) they never even fired it -- they used shotguns and pistols.
(1) I have a Class 03 C&R license and get the 'big book' on all US state firearm laws (this year they finally wised up, saved aton of printing costs and put it on a CD)
(2) Remington describes one of their standard stock types as having a 'pistol grip'. Some 'assault weapon' a Skeet or Trap gun would be. /s
You are of course, correct. I'm still amused, though, by the idea of a shotgun as a WMD. By your definition, regarding a shotgun, I guess it depends on how tight the choke is, how many pellets are in the cartridge, and how far you are from the gun. :-)
All in the name of protecting.... whatever is the cause de jour...
