So, in conclusion, we don't know who requested the mission, but we know the chain of command -- Obama, Rhambo, Messina and Caldera

I find it hard to believe that Caldera, a political appointee, kept this "unusual plan" to himself -- don't you?

What about the reports that NYC police were warned by the WH not to make the flyover public, and that’s why they couldn’t tell people on the ground beforehand?

WHO WAS ON THE PLANE???

Someone from theDepartment of Defense, Andrews Air Force Base, the Air Mobility Command, the Presidential Airlift Group, the 89th Airlift Wing, and the FAA and air traffic control could make a lot of money to drip this story out.

I bet that is why Obama made this “classified” because it would be criminal if someone leaked who was on the plane.

So the Obots have no problem releasing the names of the CIA contract employees involved in the interrogations. No problem! The world needs to know! (Even if this puts their lives in danger and destroys morale and effectiveness at the CIA.)

But who was on Air Farce One? Now THAT is TOP SECRET!

WHY???

My big fat guess is that this was a test run for the 4th of July....and the opening of the crown to the public....and Obama's PLAN.

This IS typical Obama....pure drama..showtime...whatever...

And the big news of the week was???? Dijon and the hamburg!! and the Case of the $500 sneakers.

No Pics, No Perks, and an F-16 a Long Way From Home...

... As for the F-16 that accompanied the VC-25-A, some people have noticed that the bright-red-tailed plane that accompanied the 747 as it banked above New York Harbor looked very much like the markings of the famed Tuskegee Airmen.

The plane in that photo certainly resembles the F-16s of the 100th Fighter Squadron attached to the 187th Alabama Air National Guard, which carry those distinctive colors as a tribute to the famed Tuskegee Airmen.

It is a long haul from Alabama to Washington to New York and back again, and there are other Regular Air Force units far closer to both DC and New York that could have flown escort for the President's plane if escort was their actual duty. Perhaps the plane from the 160th—if that is indeed what it was—was there as part of the photo op. Captain Cambarella, PAO of the of the 187th has so far declined a request for comment.

This whole thing is seeming more like Obama’s “posse” were smoking some “blunts” and decided to buzz New York...

It seems everyone in the government knew about the “secret flight” except Obama and his senior White House advisers.

So in essence, the term, “PLAUSIBLE DENIABILITY” comes into play? Oh how sweet, Barack can gently give a nod turn away and sail along with his trusty teleprompter.

I saw a documentary on AF1, the ground crew, the flight crew, etc... It was facinating.

I feel bad that all those good people had the reputation of their prestigious assignments damaged so profoundly.

AF1 was an untouchable symbol of America, now it has a tarnished reputation.

This administration is FouledUBAR. They have plausible deniability because they swept in and promptly swept out all tradition, rules, and mores of the White House and the Presidency. It's easy to blame Caldera if they "didn't know" what was going on. (Riiiiight.) They're running around like chickens with their heads cut off, reinventing too much all at once. They are children, buffoons, playing with daddy's toys. I hope they find the gun and promptly misuse it on themselves.

P.S. Caldera will be amply repaid with some sinecure somewhere.

WHO REQUESTED THE FLIGHT?

The same office that requested it when Bush 43 was elected. Also the same office that requested it when Clinton was elected. Same office that requested it when Bush 41 was elected. Indeed, exactly the same office that requested it all the way back to 1961 for every new president.

There are a number of "to do" checklist items that are done when a president enters the white house. Updating the photos is one of them.

I think you need to focus more on the behavior surrounding it. Why the secrecy and the strong arm threats?

I don’t know how this could be proved (I assume the Pentagon and White House wouldn’t just ‘fess up) and the picture itself may just be a trick of the light. However, George Lucas is filming “Red Tails”, about the Tuskegee Airman of WWII, famous in part for the red tail marking on their plane and, as, for example, in this photo of the flyover.

I don’t know how he would work it into the film but it would be a cool cinematic postscript to the WWII history of a spiritual heir to the Tuskegee Airmen was escoring our first black President in AF!.

All fiction, of course, and George Lucas ought to be able to do that with special effects. Still, it’s an idea.

Not really. Been living around here for more than 40 years and I've seen even stupider stuff.

Worst one that I recall was when the White House Plumbers went over to retrieve call girl pictures from Larry O'Brien's desk at the Watergate.

That one wasn't as serious as Les Aspin's failure to provide armor to our troops in Somalia of course, but the degree of stupidity was comparable ~ as was the damage to the administration (or regime in Billzo's case) in general.

We are not going to remember this loser Caldera (that's a Romany surname if I ever saw one) for long, but we will always remember the day Obama bin Laden buzzed New York City just to watch the suckers squeal and run!

If this was an actual photo shoot it wouldn’t have been done through a jet’s window. The window reflection is in the upper right of the photo. Another type of plane would have been used for this kind of photography and for that amount of money. Shooting it earlier in the morning you would have had better light as this one looks kind of hazy, but that could be from the “window”. Maybe Michelle over slept that day.

I doubt Obama knew in advance. The USAF does plenty of photo shoots. The missions are training missions that need to be flown for pilot training regardless - the $300K+ figure is BS.

In the photo shoots I’ve dealt with - NOT AF1! - a General has to approve the plan. Assuming no objections from the FAA, it flies. No big deal.

And I’ll admit - it would never have occurred to me that people would freak out in NYC over an airplane. Goodness knows, there is no sign more than 5% of New Yorkers remember 9/11 anyways - not with how they vote, at least.

The people of New York (and America) voted for a Muslim-loving, terrorist forgiving, pansy weenie for President. For years, NYC has opposed the GWOT. Hell, they ought to get enough overflights to remind them DAILY of the threat...
