TEHRAN (FNA) - Lieutenant Commander of Irans Basij (volunteer) forces General Hossein Hamedani Saturday warned about enemy plots to spark a velvet revolution in Iran.
The enemy is seeking to start a velvet revolution in the country, considering its movements and behavior, Hamedani told reporters, elaborating on the soft threats currently posed to the Islamic Republic by the enemies.
Reminding enemies efforts to stir tension in different parts of Iran and alluding to the Wests role and back up for Saddams regime during the 8-year Iraqi imposed war on Iran, the commander expressed the hope that such moves would fail in achieving their goals.
Hamedani further pointed to activities of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) in the five fields of defense, culture, society, economy and politics, and underlined that one of the crucial missions of the IRGC and its Basij troops is confronting soft threats against the country.
Right now, the most important task of Basij is confronting enemys soft threats, the commander reiterated.
Hamedani also described Irans resistance against bullying powers as a good role model for the oppressed nations, and added, We are witnessing that this has turned into a model of resistance against the arrogance, which is used in countries such as Lebanon, Palestine, Afghanistan, Bosnia and Iraq.
Earlier in February, IRGCs Commander Mohammad Ali Jafari announced that Basij (volunteer) forces have been assigned by the Supreme Leader to fight the threat of soft regime change plans against the Islamic Republic.
The Supreme Leader (Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei) has decided to assign this grave responsibility to the IRGC and Basij, Jafari said in a gathering of 5,000 commanders of Tehrans Basij units, adding, Basij and the IRGC should stand against those who want to hurt the tight relations between the Leader and (Iranian) nation.
Yah.
Velvet revolution like in Czechoslovakia? Nope. I want the full Romanian Nicolae Ceauşescu treatment for Ahmadinejad and his gang of mullahs.
this article alludes to Reza Pahlavi - www.rezapahlavi.org
Are you trying to post a link?
does it matter?
Reza Pahlavi is not a strong leader. He does not have it in him.
Whether RP is a strong leader or not remains to be seen.
I do not endorse him either way, yet the state press
in Iran seems to think he is a threat by alluding to him and his most recent presence in the MSM here in the US
just wondering if you needed help
