There was a song being played on the radio so much so that people were threatening suicide, or at the least, frontal lobotomies.
That song was "You Light Up My Life" by Debbie Boone
In the early 70's, that song played over and over and over again until we all begged for sweet release.
Finally, the song began to taper off and the US exhaled a sigh of relief.
On TV, the Queen of Soul herself was going to perform a song, on some variety show I have long forgotten. We all waited in anticipation from the commercial as Aretha's massive body filled the screen.
What soul or blues or jazz tune was she preparing to belt out?
YES. You guessed it. "You Light Up My Life."
