Workers at the store provided a description of the suspect and the car he left in, and police pulled the car over at Franklin Arterial and Fox Street a couple of minutes later.
As police were arresting Jimmy Odong, 19, of Portland and recovering the stolen merchandise, a group of about 15 to 30 people gathered, with about 10 of them becoming aggressive toward police.
A number of other officers were dispatched to the area, which is alongside the Kennedy Park housing development. Members of the gathering group, some of whom are Sudanese, like Odong, and some who are from other African countries...
When police prepared to tow the car Odong had driven, some of the crowd jumped on the car to try to prevent it from being taken.
Police also charged Yannick Mulongo, 21... with unlawful interference

Senate Bill 148 requires drivers to stay at least 3 feet away from cyclists while passing them. Drivers are now allowed to cross a center line to pass cyclists in situations where there is no oncoming traffic.

There are already swaths of no-go areas throughout America - several sectors in Detroit, Oakland, LA, Richmond (CA), Compton, DC, St. Louis, Memphis, Baltimore, Flint, and others. You don’t even want to drive through some neighborhoods (for risk of hitting a red light), especially at night. I was dumb enough to make a wrong turn while in Baltimore once - some “youths” tried to open the passenger-side door while I was stopped at a light. I peeled out against the red and paid no further heed to traffic laws until I re-entered civilization a few blocks away.
Criminals have no problem with profiling in their hunt for easy-looking, high-value targets.
Why not deport the criminals? THEFT AND RESISTING ARREST are crimes of moral turpitude and should lead to “removal” from the US, even for green card holders. Of course, the cops would have to call ICE to get the ball rolling. And under Janet Napolitano, perhaps there would be no ball.

no, i don’t think so. this is due to the erosion of respect afforded to the police. and that is due to the policies of the top bosses and various city councils who want to make everybody ‘feel’ good and take enforcement powers away from the police.
And when you bring in huge numbers of the poor and uneducated from corrupt third world countries who have no concept of the rule of law and can't relate to the values of our founders, you have such problems relating to social order.
It was just a few years ago when millions of illegal aliens marched through our streets chanting, "Today we march, tomorrow we vote." The corrosive affect this has on the rule of law will create many such problems as happened in Portland. Welcome to the third world.
