The fiscally conservative House Blue Dog Coalition on Tuesday announced its health care blueprint, a plan that likely will have fellow Democrats grousing for its lack of a government-run component.
The Blue Dogs released their principles for health care reform just one day after sending a scathing letter to House Energy and Commerce Chairman Henry Waxman (D-Calif.). In the letter, the moderate Democratic bloc charged that it was being kept on the sidelines while the Energy and Commerce panel negotiates health care legislation.
The principles address the Blue Dogs belief that fundamental reform of the nations health care system is needed to control rising health care costs, increase quality and value, and improve access to coverage and care, the group stated in a release.
Absent in the Blue Dogs outline is a requirement that any final health care overhaul include a blend of government and private insurance plans. The group also makes no mention of a government-run plan in talking points distributed this week on Capitol Hill and downtown.
Theyre not going to put things on or off the table at this point of the process, a Democratic lobbyist said.
How ‘bout them Dawgs!
They’ll vote when the party leadership tells them to.
So it begins. The first step in the slow breakup of the Jackass Party into Blue Dogs and Moonbats.
The Republican Party is breaking up into Goldwater Conservatives and Wingnuts.
So the liberal democrats know the majority of the population will have nothing to do with a Health Care Plan that they would come up with, so they are letting the yellow bellied blue dog democrats do the dirty work in hopes that the majority of people will think this plan is coming from the yellow bellied blue dogs. Either way all we will end up getting is a bone.
Exactly. In a couple of decades, our system might resemble the multiparty Israeli parliamentary system.
You guys won’t be happy until every Christian is crucified.
Where are the Republicans???
Hello... anyone out there?
Nancy told them to vote any way so they can keep their seat, IIRC, but I can't find the quote now.
The Blue Dogs released their "principles for health care reform" just one day after sending a scathing letter to House Energy and Commerce Chairman Henry Waxman (D-Calif.). In the letter, the moderate Democratic bloc charged that it was being kept on the sidelines while the Energy and Commerce panel negotiates health care legislation. This is a little manuever we like to call CYA.
More likely, there will be 3 groups: moonbats, conservatives, and a coalition of RINOs and blue-dog Dems, which will control Congress.
Actually, the Republican party is breaking up into the Goldwater/Reagan Conservatives, the Wingnuts, and the RINOs.
The problem is, the RINOs think the Goldwater/Reagan Conservatives are all Wingnuts.
Jeb Bush and others are saying we need to abandon Reagan. This is asinine. Jeb needs to read "Conscience of a Conservative" to understand the founding of the modern conservative movement. Then he needs to read Reagan's 1975 CPAC speech, followed by "Reagan, In His Own Hand" to understand how to operate when out of power. Then he should read the 1994 Contract With America to understand how one takes power back.
Did Jack Kemp say we needed to abandon Goldwater? No, he pressed forward for over a decade to make Kemp-Roth a reality. Nor should we abandon Reaganism today. Indeed, we should return to it.
And as far as I can see, this "blue print" of theirs says almost nothing about where they intend to go with "health care reform". They are playing their cards close to the vest at this point.
BTW, has anyone seen a poll out about public support, or lack thereof, for socialized medicine? My guess is that the majority is against it, so the MSM isn't letting anyone know that.
Thanks for the ping!
Who’s to say that Pelosi will still be speaker a month or two from now?
