Political tides turn in Maple Bluff...("Communism isn't so bad,""It just means you share.")

When our family moved to Wisconsin in the mid 1960s, Dad found us a little two-story Cape Cod in the village of Maple Bluff.

By all appearances it was a perfect starter home for an insurance claims man and his wife, featuring a backyard big enough to punt a football in and an elm tree with a swing, all within walking distance of Lakewood Elementary School.

But my folks, swept up in the civil rights and anti-war movements, soon discovered they were out of step with some of their new neighbors in the conservative suburb on Lake Mendota's northeast shore. My peacenik mom created quite a stir in the village at one point by sending me to school with campaign literature for 1968 presidential candidate Gene McCarthy, who opposed the Vietnam War.

"Communism isn't so bad," I explained to the sons and daughters of bank presidents and real estate developers in my third-grade class. "It just means you share." ...

...Communism isn't so bad,""It just means you share

This is the funny thing about "progressives". They think Communism is just some cozy, altruistic economic system where everybody shares.

What they don't realize is THEY don't get the choice on what to share or who to share it with.

"'The Black Book of Communism,'; a scholarly accounting of communism’s crimes, counts about 94 million murdered by the supposed champions of the common man (20 million for the Soviets alone), and some say that number is too low."

"THEY don't get the choice on what to share or who to share it with"

Actually, THEY want to be the ones to tell YOU what to share and who to share it with. You have to understand; to THEM, it's about power. Not about sharing. Power is for THEM. Sharing is for YOU.

Exactly. I am sick and tired of hearing their cutesy little stories of their wonderful childhoods. Those childhoods were courtsey of the United States of America; not communisim which is oppresive and cold and unfeeling. If they like communism so much; maybe they should move to Russia or any other communistic country. Maye North Korea; but I am sure they just couldn’t do that because they no their butts would be fried.

Communists murdered (far) more people last century than even nazis did. No this is not a nazi revision statement.

The nazis killed 6 million.

Communists: 100 million.

The Khmer Rouge used hammers. To save money on bullets.

Communism is murder.

Liberals (Communists) are nicey until they have control. Then the imprisonments, gulags and murders occur.

It will happen here. Obama will eat expensive steaks while we eat grains and a lump of fat.

Interesting little nugget from one of the comments at the end

You can't stereotype people by income level. Education is the thing. The more people develop critical thinking skills, the less likely they are to fall for Republican talking points.
Take that, Joe the plumber.

Those critical thinking skills that lead one to think communism is all about sharing. As long as you don't own anything, sharing is great. These people have no clue because they got their "critical thinking skills" from the government schools and the universities that are indoctrination centers for the useful idiots who will cede their rights and everyone else's to the government that will take everything they worked for.

The ideas of consent and personal sovereignty are lost on them. Sharing isn’t something that comes from a charitable heart for them, it is something that is extracted forcibly if necessary. Not because it must be obtained in such a way but because they don’t seek only to be charitable but also to punish and control those from whom they extract their public fee. Citizens without control of their own wealth are slaves.

I found it telling that this individual seemed proud to have not progressed in political development since he was in the third grade. It isn’t about sharing at all it is about taking.
Sharing is a voluntary behavior but that idea is lost on the left regardless of how many times the America people rise to the occasion and give billions as individuals to help others in countries some of which are not that friendly to us. We have no need as free men to intimidate and coerce our fellow man into giving that which we will not simply ask for or give ourselves. We live based upon the false idea that if we didn’t have all our bureaucracy that we could not survive. I believe instead that most of us would thrive.

“It just means you share”

And when there isn’t enough to “share”. You starve.

This idiot ought to learn the history of the Soviet Union.

Communists: 100 million.

A few years back, you'll remember, the open border people ran a series of street marches themed a day without illegals. At least that's what I remember them called

The first one was held in Philadelphia so a few of us went down to protest their presence. We just stayed in their midst with our signs until the Independence Park ranger suggested we cross Market St.

Before we were relocated, a young woman came up to me and pointing to the sign, wanted to know what America I was talking about.

The United States of America, I replied as she went into her expected Latin America, South America claim to the name.

South America, I asked, that's where all the communists are, right?

I believe she experienced some kind of full body spasm, seriously, and this is not an exageration. Her eyes rolled upwards and she started to crouch (she was a tall woman about 5'10" or thereabouts. Nicely put together, actually) anyway she is in this kind of bent over crouching position when she jumps upwards, thrusting her arm to the sky each of the three times she cries out YES!

I asked her if she heard about the 100 million people the commies put to death.

It looked like she went from an adrenaline pumping 120 MPH to a reality check full stop.Dazed and confused she was for a good second or three. Then she recovered and came up with this classic. 'Well, your vice-president shoots people.'

I laughed and she turned and ran away.

I've wondered ever since how many other modern day commie activists have a difficult time dealing with that reality.

What do you mean ‘wheat and lumps of fat’? During one of the periods of societal starvation in China, the communist government tried to convince the people that the Chinese People were advanced beings that had no need for fat or protein in their diet! Read the book, ‘The Black Book of Communism’ and find out what’s coming. Rationing hell, they mean to starve us all. After all, people are the cancer on the planet.

I agree.

"Communism isn't so bad,""It just means you share."

He forgets to mention that you are told what to share and when and how and you have no choice but to comply. Playing on people's altruism, or bleeding hearts, too many fall for it and find out the hard way that they can -no MUST - share what they have, alright, but no one is sharing with them!
