"At its core, people don’t like government or for others to tell them what to do."

I think you have identified the core issue. The left, the communists, have been promoting this "it's all about me" attitude for a very long time. They've been leveraging and promoting youth's disrespect of leadership to destroy our culture. Telling the selfish, immature part of us that it has an unquestionable right to deny the wisdom of age and reflection on history for how to best order our lives.

I remember, as a child in the car with my family, expressing my fear and alienation when I saw a policeman and thought he might accost us for no reason. My mother admonished me that I should be proud when I see a policeman. Sadly, that thought has not been reinforced by anyone since then. I now recognize that as part of our lost culture.

I have doubt that it will be rebuilt in my lifetime, especially with the left's ownership of all the propaganda machines (e.g., education, MSM) and their willingness to lie about, and do anything to win).

Adult leadership, wisdom and the promotion of good husbandry is what is needed. Without authority, convincing the 'children' of our culture will have to take the long road of example and elders' advice as opposed to the authority and force of will of the parent.

We must persevere, for the benefit of our children.

The GOP went hard core on everything that didn’t matter. What does gay marriage have to do with anything? If people want to deal with it, repeal Article IV, and it goes away. In the 80s it was prayer in school, and managing textbooks, plus the HUGE expansion of the WOD.

Sure, I have conservative values and agree with a lot of the conservative positions but to campaign on it and ram it down people’s throats loses sight of the core issue: the rise of centralized government.

At the end of the day, I see the GOP and the Dems as doing just pure power-grabbing. I would honestly like to return to a Constitutional republic. If CA legalizes and LA does not, that’s fine. If people want to smoke a bong then, move between states.

It is the Feds that are the problem.

Gay marriage?
Government tolerance/promotion of homosexuality?
Providing the "me first" generations with the substances that are proven destructive?

Clearer heads understand that government condoning (actually, promoting) the self-absorbed lifestyle will damage if not destroy the lives of the children raised by those who practice it. They also recognize that whether we like it or not, allowing the immature easy and approved access to debilitating and destructive substances turns the users into greater burdens on society (and they want universal health care, paid for by you and me?).

I don't want the responsibility for these self-destroyed people and their victims rammed down MY throat... and that's exactly what 'legalizing' deviant and destructive behaviors has done and will continue to do.

I couldn't give less of a hoot about the GOP, unless they start acting like adults and not the "Me Too" to the dims.

Passing or rescinding laws won't matter if the culture has decided "it's ok if you can get away with it".
Ultimately, the US will turn into a police state because no one will give credence to laws anyway. Then force is the only means of maintaining control, whether it's wielded by the feds or the states.

I do not want my children, and theirs ... to be burdened with what the 'progressives' have planned for us and the elimination of moral boundaries is part of their plan.

The difference is that it is one thing to administer morality from the pulpit vs legislating it.

Marriage is a state issue, there really is no question about it. The issue today is Article IV which says it has to be recognized across states boundaries.

Your morality does not equate to my morality. This issue should be fought in the legislature but there is no way in hell that the Feds have any say here. That includes drugs.

Please tell me where the Feds have the right to deal with the WOD? They don’t. This is clear in the 10th Amendment.

I'm not talking about codifying any religion, though I am a Christian and stand against anyone who condones murder and homosexual behavior. The basis of my argument is not that a creed proscribes them, but that allowing them is contrary to the "do no harm" requirement of good social governance.

Quibbling about whether it's a community, city, county, state, federal or international issue avoids taking responsibility for supporting and pursuing what's best for society and / or the culture.

I agree that our moralities are different. I'm saying we should not support or condone destructive behavior...

As far as the war on drugs is concerned, a 'war' on anything is just the "progressives'" way of justifying extreme government action without reasonable constraints.
If we simply established reasonable laws, properly used law-enforcement (at all levels) to monitor, investigate, build the cases, arrest, prosecute and mete out punishment appropriate to the crimes and make it stick. The drug problem would not be what it is.

Unfortunately, we have too many that think it's OK to pursue destructive behavior and too many who excuse it.
