Other polls that ask Americans how they feel about a proposed "cap and trade" system to control pollution have tended to produce positive responses. But those surveys never seem to mention what such a system might cost. The latest IBD/TIPP Poll laid it all out in a somewhat lengthy question and drew a very different response: By nearly 3-to-1, Americans oppose a cap-and-trade system that, if opponents are correct, could add $800 to $1,200 per household to energy prices.

Overall: 23% support, 63% oppose, 14% not sure.
Democrats: 36% support, 47% oppose, 17% not sure.
Republicans: 9% support, 80% oppose, 11% not sure.
Independents: 21% support, 79% oppose, 12% not sure
What?! Include facts in a poll question?! Are you crazy? Of what possible use would responses be to the MSM and the rest of the democrat party machine?
The ‘independents’ numbers are overstated (112%).
The independents must be playing it safe, as usual, by picking a couple of answers to the question.
Thanks. Now I need a poll that says the same thing about health care reform.
Carbon Scam Ping - (POGW)
So Americans are too dumb to know that the cap and tax would raise their costs? I guess many Americans thought it was going to be another government freebe.
John Kerry Independents were polled. They supported it before they opposed before they were not sure or some variations of the 3 possibilities.
In Pennsylvania, one electric utility is begging people to stash money now into a utility-managed account, for use when the rates skyrocket after cap-and-trade is passed.
They promise the suckers (er, “customers”) a 7.5% interest rate on the money, but of course that, too, will be used to defray the upcoming gigantic electric bills.
You don’t suppose, do you, that the electric company has already crunched the cap-and-trade numbers and concluded that a lot of customers will not have sufficient cash flow to pay their utility bills?
Hmmmmmm...
How about we get someone in Congress to propose a TAX!
A TAX on NEWSPRINT!
Whereas the production of newspapers causes trees to be cut down, hauled by polluting trucks to polluting paper mills, and hauled from paper mills to publishers and
Whereas the production of newspapers requires toxic ink and solvents and energy wasting machinery and
Whereas the distribution of newspapers requires the use of dirty internal combustion engines and
Whereas a large portion of every landfill is used for discarded newspapers,
Therefore:
Be it resolved that a Newsprint tax, of $1,000.00 per pound, be charged to EVERY newspaper with a daily subscription, within the United States!

We should get some Republican to propose THIS as an amendment to any cap and trade or carbon tax proposal that comes up!
Maybe we can make it like Cap and Trade and use the revenue generated, from this tax on dirty dinosaur newspapers, to subsidize a tax credit for home computers and digital devices?
Or, we could use the money to subsidize talk radio! Well, those guys really dont need any help!
“You dont suppose, do you, that the electric company has already crunched the cap-and-trade numbers and concluded that a lot of customers will not have sufficient cash flow to pay their utility bills?”
Not just the utility companies, but the government, too. I see another subsidy to keep from hurting “the poor.” Really, this is just another vehicle to socialism, rationing, and perpetual dependence on government.
$800-$1200 is a very low mark for cap and tade costs, IMHO. I’;ve read other studies that put the cost closer to $3,000+ per family per year.
